Chapter 8
"Harry?" I said out loud as I walked down the hall to the wooden door that had his name on it. I guess Ellen doesn't mess around when she has guests. Getting your own dressing room is a cool feeling. Considering I am not famous or anything, it is something that will only happen once.
I walked through the doorway and the room was spotless. No evidence that anyone had been in here. It looked just like mine, but everything was on the opposite side of the room.
Where could he be? Did I actually upset him enough to make him leave? All I did was assume that someone was paying him because this is all too good to be true. Maybe he left because he know I was on to him and his little game. Now I really need to find him just for my curiosity.
"Harry?" I said again as I walked into his bathroom. There was no response for the second time. I stepped back into the hallway looking both ways. I decided to take a left and start heading down the unknown pathway.
I know this place is big, but he couldn't have gotten too far. Unless he ran, but he wouldn't be able to move fast in those tight skinny jeans.
A younger man started walking towards me. He didn't look up from his phone until I started speaking.
"Have you seen Harry? Harry Styles?"
"I think he is getting food" He responded pointing down the hall in the direction I was walking in the first place.
"Thanks" I said giving him a small wave as I picked up my pace down the hall until I reached a giant table covered in food.
Harry had his back towards me at a table by himself. As I got closer, I realized he had a mountain of food in front of him.
"Harry..." I said as he put his food down and looked up at me. He looked away rolling his eyes at my company and my heart sank a little in my chest.
"Harry" I said again because I didn't get the reaction I wanted the first time.
"What do you want?" He said in a rude tone.
"I just wanted to apologize, for assuming that you were here for money or for the media" He looked up at me to make eye contact.
"You were half right" He said as he stood up and grabbed his half full plate of food and started walking away.
I stood there for a few seconds before following him over to the trash can.
"Well I am glad you are here" I instantly regretted saying. I am glad you're here? Of course I am glad he is here, but clearly he isn't thrilled to be here himself. I am making a fool out of myself.
"Thanks" He said.
I just smiled at him even though I know he was being sarcastic. I didn't expect this to be the way I met Harry. I always came up with dumb scenarios in my head, but he was never a jerk in any of them. Then again, I never expected this to actually happen.
"You coming?" He says to me after I realize that I was starring at his pink lips.
"What?" I asked half shocked and half confused.
"Food. I am getting more food, are you coming or not?" He looks down at me.
"Oh, uh, yeah sure" He turned his body and started walking towards the table and I just followed.
I was overwhelmed by the amount of choices scattered across the table. I went in for the desserts because why not? I stuffed my plate with chocolate covered fruit and a cupcake. I looked over at Harry who was starring at me.
"What?" I asked him.
"Nothing, I just figured you only ate healthy food. Looking at your plate I was wrong about that" He said with a grin on his face.
"I bet you are wrong with a lot of things about me"
"I bet you're in band, you get great grades, you hate sports, you're into weird art crap, and you read a lot" He says trying to read me.
"Wrong, kind of right, wrong, right, and wrong" I said trying to remember everything he listed.
"Wow, one and a half out of five. My worst score yet" He said as we took a seat at the table he was sitting at before.
"Don't just assume things about people" I said not sure if it was too early to joke about the fact that I pissed him off earlier for doing just that. He started laughing and shoved his face with food on his plate.
"If I was so wrong, then tell me about yourself" He said watching me put fruit into my mouth.
"Oh, uh my life is kind of boring" I said to him.
"I don't care if it is boring or not, I asked you to tell me about it" He said changing the mood of the conversation. Maybe me apologizing was all he needed to forget about the fact that I judged him. I still do not understand why he was so upset when I was right in the first place. Plus, he just judged me too.
"I am a senior, 17 years old, I have an older brother but he lives two hours away, I do like to draw like you mentioned earlier.... Uh I don't know what else to say. My favorite color is blue? That is interesting right?" I was starting to realize how boring my life really is. I couldn't think of something fun to tell him.
"Cool"
"Just cool? That is pretty damn awesome" I responded to his lame comment.
"You're funny" He laughed.
I was confused with this whole situation. I confront him about something that was true, he gets angry with me and now he is laughing and asking about my life? What was going on?
"Your turn" I said.
"I have a bunch of tattoos, I like to sing, I have a sister named Gemma... okay this is actually kind of hard" He laughs.
"Told you"
We just finished our food before making our way back to the hall that held both of our dressing rooms. I surprisingly enjoyed our talk even though it is the first and last time I will probably see him.
"Bye, it was nice to meet you" Harry said as he waved and walked into his dressing room.
That was weird. Not even a goodbye hug? Or even a handshake? Did I say something wrong? Just two seconds ago we were laughing and having a good time then he just walks away?
"Haley there you are!" My Mom said waving me down from the other side of the hallway "I have been looking all over for you! Let's go explore the city!" Great. Just what I wanted. A whole day with my parents and thinking about nothing other then what just happened with Harry.
