Mordred and Artoria walk the streets of Fuyuki, the two knights had not walked together in a very long time.
The city of Fuyuki was slow this day, it was an uneventful start of a sunday morning meaning the two knights were to be left well alone thanks to the ceasefire which sat upon the grail war.
A soft breeze swept through the city as it made Artoria adjust her white and blue hoodie she wore as Mordred did not seem bothered at all.
"Shall we get some coffee first?" Artoria inquired with her knight, well, her son or daughter, it was a confusing mess truly.
Mordred rubs the nape of her neck as she did not mind coffee, Bedivere used to make something similar to it from time to time, "Sure, sounds pleasant." She hummed while stretching.
"Its just around the corner." Artoria led the way as the tension just an hour ago had faded away to a calm silence between the two. A rather warm feeling came to the King's chest, it was not a bad feeling, far from it.
The two knights continuing their walk through the streets. People went about their day to day lives, possibly off to shop, work, or other arrangements. Cars filled the many vast roads and every once in awhile someone rode by on a bike.
"This place is really different than home, huh?" Mordred pipes up while just taking in the new era as it was still a hard adjustment.
"Yes," Artoria responds as she for one was not nearly lost in the sprawling city, "The modern era really is a fun in its own right."
It was only a decade ago with the previous war that Artoria was here. Some things had changed but not much new had occurred within the city except the horrific event known as the Fuyuki Great Fire.
All of the lives lost were at Artoria's hands, even if Kiritsugu had betrayed her, it was still her blade which fell upon them all.
Mordred raises an eyebrow at the fun statement, she never took the King as one to find fun in things.
The two knights stopped at a crosswalk as some other people were waiting on the green light to blink on.
That soft breeze continued as there was a Fuyuki's central park was nearby. The trees breezing in the wind as Artoria could not help but feel relaxed and at peace. Being with Mordred once again was a treat, but she felt like she still had punishment awaiting her. The King's hands were not clean, it was her blade, her power with destroyed the grail and unleashed the destruction upon Fuyuki. When Artoria was summoned, and she saw Shirou's face, something instantly clicked into her head upon the surrounding environment.
Artoria saw the family photos in at Shirou's home.The man Shirou was inspiring to be was no saint, no Hero of Justice. Artoria's thoughts were lost on Kiritsugu, the man who lost all her respect. Command Seal after Command Seal and it broke the King's will as Excalibur tore through the air.
Artoria then felt herself being shaken as she snapped back to reality. Mordred's right hand was upon her shoulder.
"You spaced out, better hurry up before we have to wait for the light to turn green again." Mordred had already started walking as other people were already a little ahead.
Artoria follows beside Mordred as the two cross the street behind a few residents of the city.
"The cafe is just another block down to the left." Artoria inform Mordred.
Mordred hums but that was not what had the Knight of Red's attention. Her Father had quite the distant stare off into the sky as if she was revisiting a memory, and considering Artoria's face was one of disappointment and regret, it was not a good memory. Mordred would just keep the thought in the back of her mind and would not pry lest Artoria keeps dazzing off.
The two knights reach the end of the block and turn left, continuing past a few buildings as the city was so large, with skyscrapers that stretched as far as one could lean back to look up without falling over.
There was a nice three story building with a cafe at the bottom. A black exterior with a open design as many windows dotted the establishment. Upon gazing inside, people of various types were eating some snacks and drinking beverages. There were nice dark brown wooden tables and the cafe had a nice modern design to it.
Artoria opens the door as she walked inside with Mordred following behind. "What would you like?" Artoria asked her knight. "Nothing bitter, something sweet?" She asked as while smiled.
Mordred was surprised as she had a sweet tooth and Artoria knew all about it. The fact Artoria even remembered was a surprise. "That sounds good... I-Ill find a s-seat for us." Mordred quickly stuttered on her words as she turned away from her Father before finding a booth after taking a bit to look around even though there many places to sit.
The booth sat next to one of the front windows which looked out to the streets of Fuyuki as citizens and cars passed by. It was just another day in the world.
Artoria waited in line as she thought about what to get Mordred, there was so much to choose from as she eventually decided what to get after some thought.
Mordred crosses her arms as she props her legs up on the seat opposite of her in the booth. Her thoughts were all over the place, but she wondered how long the cease-fire would last. It had only been a week or so she had been with her Master, and she knew very little of her Master's pursuit of the grail. It was possibly honest goal as he had been quite good. But how long would he stay honorable, war can drive people to their worst and Mordred knew that from experience. Shirou, her Father's Master was clearly a naive young man, Mordred hoped he wouldn't do anything reckless, as it would upset her if her Father died early in the war to the Master's mistakes.
Mordred was taken out of thought as two seperate drinks were placed before her. There was a small tea cup for Artoria and another drink in a plastic cup for Mordred.
Artoria sat opposite as Mordred put her legs down so Artoria could sit first.
"I didn't know what you would like exactly but I got something sweet and not bitter." Artoria drank some coffee from her own little cup slowly.
"T-thanks." Mordred grabbed the plastic cup as she smelt it first as it smelt rather good. She then slowly drank it as it was quite warm and refreshing.
Artoria smiled as she had a feeling Mordred with a enjoy it, an instinct.
~~~
Mordred growled lowy as she continued to play the racing game against her Father.
Artoria was quite the expert driver as in the game, she had just overtaken Mordred on the turn as Mordred had not correctly counter steered and lost control of the vehicle causing it to veer off course and wreck.
"Seems I still command in the riding department Mordred."
"Shut it!" Mordred growled as she waited for the car to reappear after five seconds or so
The two had been at the arcade for hours. Two pizza boxes sat next to the machine as they had not left for awhile and even got food from the nearby pizza place within the arcade..
Mordred was about to pass her Father in the game just as Artoria swerved slightly towards her making her slow down to not crash.
A big 2nd Place title card popped up on Mordred's screen as she gripped the wheel tightly.
Artoria laughed loudly as Mordred stood up in a heated fit of anger. "Guitar next! Your musical taste sucks and I know it!" She grabbed her Father s wrist and dragged her along while carrying the two pizza boxes in her other free hand.
These two were not going to be leaving for quite some time.
