"What's the matter? I thought you liked larb?" May asked. "Is that too larb? Isn't larb enough? How many times do I have to say larb for you to talk to me?"''Huh? '' Junior shook his head to gather his thoughts.
"You know I larb you," May said, clearly trying to get a smile out of her nephew.
Peter continued to pick at his food, "I'm just kind of stressed I guess, with midterms, Decathalon and my big robotics project due soon. It's just a lot y'know?" Well it was the complete truth but it wasn't exactly a lie; Junior was worried about the AcaDec competitions coming up but more for the reason that he was yet to know how he could sneak out to go Spider-Manning without any of his teammates knowing. Oh and there was the little thing about NED FINDING OUT HIS IDENTITY!
"Yeah you're mum told me you've seemed stressed lately before she dropped you off here. Well you can always ask your dad to help you with your robotics project, you no I'm not a big fan of that man's work but I'd be a fool to deny he was a genius," she pointed to the food on Junior's plate he was clearly not paying attention to, "funny how a man so...difficult could raise a kid so sweet like you. Well your mum raised you well and the Carter's had a hand in it too I guess," she seemed to be thinking out loud, the last parts I'd the conversation clearly not directed at Peter.
The teen liked to think May didn't actually dislike his father, they got along well enough when he was there. Plus she was a close friend to his Aunt Sharon, who was basically his dad's sister. Though at first he could sense a tad but if resentment sent towards his dad, to be fair his dad could be pretty obnoxious - Junior couldn't deny a fact - and said behaviour had earned his quite the reputation in SHIELD so it was understandable why she might've a certain way. Force of habit he guessed.
"Delmar's sandwich shop was destroyed in an explosion after an ATM robbery was foiled by Queen's own criminal, Spider-Man." A voice from the TV announced.
Peter rolled his eyes as a picture of Spiderman emerged from a cubic toilet bowl with toilet paper attached to his leg.
''When Spider-Man tried to thwart his assault, a powerful blast went off, cutting the cellar across the street. Miraculously, no one was injured."
''If you noticed something like this happening, run off. Understood, '' May warmed, "leave the hero stuff to you dad and your sister, maybe one day you can be in the field but for now our main focus is to keep you safe. You're the heir to a Fortune 500 company."
''Yes, yes ... of course. '' Peter said with a clumsy nod, he couldn't help but feel a little hurt at the comment. 'Leave the hero stuff to your dad and sister.'
"I need a new backpack."
"What?"
"I need a new backpack," Junior repeated assuming May hadn't heard him.
"This your fifth one!" She said incredulously, "your lucky you come from a family of billionaires, you can already eat someone out of house and home."
The teen blushed slightly, the freckles that dotted his face becoming more pronounced as he looked down suddenly becoming aware of the immense pile of food that sat on his plate.''Sticky rice pudding. '' Said a waiter smiling at May and placing the plate on the table.
''We didn't ask for that. ''
"It's on the house," the waiter winked at May.
"Alright, that sounds good," May said face burning from the flattery.
''I think he larbs you, '' Peter giggled. Sometimes the constant hitting on his pseudo aunt annoyed him but at least they were getting free food out of it. Also the guy had been respectful, unlike the countless cat callers who preferred to whistle and holler from across the street.
