14. Aftermath

I woke up from being shaken awake. "Hm?" I hummed, tiredly. "Thomas you can't sleep on the floor like this." A gruff voice sighed. I shrugged and rolled onto my left side but then sat up yelping in pain. I grabbed my shoulder and doubled over. "Ow." I breathed, tears brimming my eyes. "Ow ow ow ow ow ow ow ow." I muttered. "Thomas? Are you ok?" Herc asked. "No." I breathed sitting back up but leaning on the wall closing my eyes as a tear ran down my face. Herc gasped and ran out. "Martha!" He yelped running down the stairs.

I heard feet bound up the stairs and in ran Laf. "Thomas! Qu'est-ce qui ne va pas?!" (What's wrong?!) He asked. "My damn shoulder hurts." I whimpered slightly, my eyes still squeezed shut. "ALEX!" He yelled, making Alex jolt awake from the bed. "Wha- Tommy?" He asked looking at me. He lazily got out of bed and walked over to me, sitting on the ground next to me. I quickly wiped the tears from my face and let go of my shoulder and smiled at Lex. "What's wrong?" Alex asked crawling into my lap. "Nothings wrong Lex." I smiled holding him in my lap. He nodded and rested his head on my chest and fell asleep again. I looked at Laf. "Do you need me to go to the store?" He asked. "Yeah. Just some Tylenol. I'll pay you back." I breathed. He nodded and walked out. I buried my head in Alex's hair and breathed in the sent of his shampoo. Suddenly Alex was lifted from my arms. I looked up and saw Laf carrying him to the bed. I smiled at him thankfully. I rested my head back on the wall and closed my eyes, hoping the pain would go away. I yelped in surprise when I was lifted from the ground. I looked over to see Herc smiling at me. I chuckled and rubbed my face.

Herc laid me down on my back and left with Laf. I rolled onto my right side and brought Alex closer to me. Alex curled up a bit and sighed. I smiled and fell asleep to ease the pain in my shoulder.

"Tommy." I heard a small whisper. "Hm?" I hummed. "Waaaakee uuuuppppp." Someone kissed my nose. I scrunched up my face and buried my head into their shoulder. Wait.. I picked my head up and opened my eyes. I saw Alex looking at me with a smile. I smiled back and pecked his lips. "Dad made breakfast." He whispered. I nodded. "That means we need to get up huh?" I asked. He nodded and kissed my nose. I groaned dramatically and sat up. Alex got out of bed and walked to my bag. He pulled out some of my jeans and a magenta sweater. He threw them at me and walked to his bathroom. I changed into the jeans and waited for Alex to get back.

Alex walked back in with a roll of bandages, hydrogen peroxide and cotton balls. He looked at me. "Need help changing your shirt?" He asked walking over to me. I nodded and chuckled. He helped me take off my hoodie. He took of the bandages on my shoulder and cleaned the shot with the peroxide and cotton balls. I winced in pain. "I'm sorry." He apologized kissing my cheek. I nodded and he continued. He put on the new bandages. He picked up my sweater and helped me put it on. He smiled at me and kissed me. I kissed back and pinned him, back on the bed.

"Mon pe- MON DIEU!" A French accent yelled slamming the door closed. I groaned and got off Alex. I opened the door and glared at Laf. "Je suis désolé, Thomas..." Laf apologized. "It's fine.." I grumbled. "Mr. Washington said breakfast is ready." He smiled apologetically. I nodded. I turned around to Alex's bed but he wasn't there. He was next to me. "Allons-y alors!" (Let us go then!) Laf exclaimed triumphantly, turning around and racing down the stairs. I chuckled and grabbed Alex's hand. We walked downstairs and smiled at our friends and the Washington's.

I looked at the clock and saw it was 8:30. "We have 10 minutes till you guys gotta get to school." Martha smiled. I nodded and ate my waffle with Alex sitting in my lap. Alex finished his fruit salad and leaned into my chest while he waited for me to finish. I finished about 2 minutes after. I looked to the clock and saw it was 8:37. "Should we go now?" I asked to nobody in particular. Alex, Herc, and Laf nodded. We all walked out and got into my Jeep.

We arrived at the school and got out the car. I grabbed Alex's hand and walked in. Immediately I was swarmed by people I didn't even know. Alex was holding onto me for dear life. I saw Alex and I's friends trying to get through the crowd to get to us. I was overwhelmed to say the least. "Did you actually get shot?!" "Are you ok?!" "Who shot you?!" Were some of the questions thrown at me. Then someone grabbed my shoulder. I flinched and hissed in pain. "Dude what the fuck?!" I yelled turning to face whoever touched me. Turns out it was Charles Lee. He shrugged and walked off. I turned back around to face everyone and try to get through without loosing Alex. I looked past all the kids to Herc for help. "EVERYONE GET YOUR ASSES AWAY FROM THOMAS AND ALEXANDER!" He boomed. Everyone yelped in surprise and shuffled away from me and Alex. I held Alex by the shoulders tighter and walked to my friends.

"Thank you." I sighed rubbing my shoulder slightly. Herc nodded and they formed a circle around us. "You don't have to do this y'know." I chuckled as we all shuffled to Alex and I's science class. "We don't want your shoulder to get hurt again." Angelica spoke up glaring at a kid who tried to talk to me. I nodded not wanting to argue with the scariest woman I know.

"We'll be waiting for you two after class." Eliza smiled kindly. I looked at her and smiled back. She looked up at me and hesitated for a second before bringing me into a hug. I hugged back confused. She pulled away and wiped some tears as her friends walked off. "What was that for?" I asked. "I'm just really thankful that you saved me but I feel so bad that you got shot and not me." She sniffled looking down. I looked at Alex and motioned for him to go inside. He nodded and walked in. I brought Eliza into another hug and rested my chin on your head. "It's ok Liza, I'm ok. You're ok. Everyone is ok. Don't feel bad about it because you couldn't of done anything. Plus, you owe me now." I joke at the end, pulling away and giving her a bright smile. She chuckled and nodded, wiping more tears that escaped her eyes. She gave me one last hug before running off to her class. I smiled and walked in. Everyone was staring at me. "Glad to know people care." I grumbled walking over to Alex. He was sitting next to a girl that kept asking him questions about me. He obviously was uncomfortable. "Look. I can't answer how much it hurt because I wasn't the one shot. So please stop asking me all these stupid questions." He grumbled putting his head down on the desk. I sat next to him and brought him into a hug. He sighed and hugged back.

Today was going to be a long day...
