It was a good thing it was the holidays, otherwise I would’ve had to somehow convince Mum that letting me stay home today was a brilliant idea. As it was I still had to avoid all human contact.
Talking with Eliza had helped, though perhaps not as much as the bliss of the dreamless sleep I fell into not long after, but I was still too traumatized to face my family and friends, let alone potentially bump into Drew. That would just be too embarrassing and I wasn’t about to put myself through that.
“TAH-LEE-YAAAA! PHONE FOR YOU!” Mum yelled up the stairs, obviously expecting me to exit my room and fetch it.
“BRING IT TO MEEE!” I yelled back, giggling.
“FINE, I’LL JUST TELL HIM YOU’RE ON THE TOILET!” she replied, cackling.
I gulped. If that was anyone other than Keira or Toby, I would die. Especially if I left them alone with my mother, even just over the phone. I knew what I had to do.
Sighing, I eased myself out of bed, then sprinted out of my room, leaped down the stairs and wrenched the phone from Mum’s hands (it was easier than it could have been, she was laughing too hard to actually grip it properly), then raced back up to my room, slammed the door behind me and fell back into the sweet, blissful, warmth of my bed.
“Hello?” I asked, wondering who it was I was speaking to, and just how weirded out they were.
“Talia, is that you?” came a familiar voice.
I nearly dropped the phone.
“Um, yeah, who is this?” I asked, just to be sure.
“Don’t you recognise my voice?” The voice sounded amused.
“I’m just checking. Could be awkward if I’m wrong, you know. So, oh great and mysterious voice, what do you call thyself?” I wasn’t normally this strange. But if this was who I thought it was…
The voice laughed, then replied “I don’t know if I want to answer that, I quite like being addressed as great and mysterious…”
Well, that was cheeky. And annoying.
“I won’t call you that ever again if you don’t tell me who you are.”
“Aw, I was having fun.” I could hear the pout over the phone.
“Gettin’ real tired of this…” I replied, doing my best to sound bored and breaking off into a yawn.
“Fine, fine, it’s-”
There was a beep.
He’d hung up on me.
Well, that was rude.

Oooh, mystery! Wonder who the Great and Mysterious voice belongs to? ;)
