I continued to hug her tightly until she whispered, "Don't forget I need to breathe." I smiled and loosened my grip on her. "I love you Hope," I whispered as my forehead connected with hers. "Donnie, you know I don't like you right?" I felt my heart clench in dread and grief. My head snapped up at her, but she was looking away. My grip was completely loose and she got off my lap. She walked towards the door and I thought she would leave me in here alone. Instead she locked the door and walked back towards me. My head felt it was being filled with cement. She sat on my lap and I stared at her in disbelief. "I am in complete and utter love with you. So therefore I cannot like you if my feelings for you surpass the level of friendly like's." I smile at her and let out the breathe I was holding. "A simple, 'I love you' would have been fine Hope," I mutter as I look away. She giggled and commented, "We both know that you don't do simple, Donatello." I looked at her and we both laughed. She laid her head in the crook of my neck and gave me a small peck. Suddenly a loud bang on the door made us both jump in surprise. "Donnie, I need ya ta looks at somethin'!" Raph's voice entered the room while stayed outside. I groaned and Hope turned and stood up. She made the "after you" gesture. I shook my head in amusement. I unlocked the door and stared at Raph with a flat look. "My leg is killing meah," he said with a pained expression and continued, "I woke up ta a swellin' black and blue ankle." Hope came up to him and stared at him. He stared right back at her. She laughed and offered him her hand. "I can still walk!" He muttered under his breath. "I know, but not for long. Eventual your leg will give out and collapse under the pressure of holding your weight up. That could lead to serious problems if you collapse on your leg, which would become broken, if not, fractured," she said in nursely fashion. He seemed to think about and glared at her hand. "Can I at least walk over dare without you's help in' meah?" He almost seemed to be pleading. She nodded and lead him to the lab table. "Donnie your the doctor, I'm just the nurse, so get your butt over here," she said loudly as she glanced at me. I sighed and walked towards the cabinet where I keep my medical supplies. "Okay, okay, I'm going," I said as I looked at her. I grabbed the large first aid kit and walked towards Raph. I crouched down so I could see his swollen ankle better. I stood and said, "Lay back Raph, I need to get a better view of it." He nodded and laid back while looking at the ceiling. I pressed my finger against it gently and he shot up immediately. "What da hell, Donnie! What are you's doin' ta it? You's didn' have ta press on it like dat!" He growled at me with a pained expression. "Broken" I thought and Hope nodded. Raph looked at both of is in distrust. "Raph, how did this happen?" I asked and he shrugged. "I thought Mikey did dis ta meah with his stupid pranks," he looked at me and continued, "But I don' know what really happened ta meah. All's I know is dat I wokes up in pain." I looked at hope and she nodded. She went to the cabinet and grabbed the portable X-ray scanner I made from military and hospital junkyard scraps.
"Fractured." "Fractured? How?" He asked stubbornly with his arms crossed. His body language showed that he challenged my conclusion but his eyes showed that he believed me. I nodded and repeated, "Fractured. We have to do surgery to repair the broken bone and we have to get you a cast. You'll also need some anesthetic and antibiotics. You also won't be able to train." He stared at me and then at Hope. "Not if you's do dis ta meah, I mean I won't be able ta train. Are you's two crazy or something'?" He jump off the table and tried to run to the door, but his leg gave out with a sickening crack. Hope sighed in frustration as Raph stared at his leg in pain. "Now it's broken, Raph!" She tsked and shook her head. We helped back to the table. "Please don't, I wanna ta be ables ta train with you's guys!" He groaned in pain and stubbornness. Hope shook her head and sat at the table and took his hand. "Raph, if you do exactly what we say, you will be able to train before you know it. All you have to do is rest for four or five weeks, and we'll take care of the rest. So do not argue with him or it'll be even longer, do you understand?" By now everyone, including April and Casey, was standing at the entrance of my lab. Casey was snickering and April glared at him angrily. Raph looked at them and looked the other way. Hope took on a motherly tone which surprised everyone, including me. "Raphael Hamoto, I asked you a question and I expect you to answer it!" She sternly told him as she grabbed his face, gently squishing his cheeks between her fingers. "Yeah, I undeahstand you's." She smiled and patted his head like he was a pouting child.
