Ace stared up at her ceiling as her thoughts spiraled around her. Instead of checking the clock to see what time it was, she instead drew the curtains open from her window and looked at the city before her. She would patrol it tomorrow. It hadn't been that long but, the city's streets came as easy to her as New York's
She sent a text to Alex for the next day
Ace: Hey, I'll be at the FH Agency tomorrow. Meet me there.
She threw her phone across the room and onto her couch and fell back upon her bed.
--
The curtains were still drawn at four-thirty in the morning. Ace once again heard something rustle against the fabric of her couch.
"Okay... y'all there are couches in the common room... wha-"
"Shhhh...." an all too familiar voice whispered.
"What the fuck are you doing here?" Gaze's mind immediately went into high-alert. How the hell did he find me?
"You'll discover that soon enough. I must say, the new name suits you 'AJ'. You didn't really think that you could leave without me knowing, did you?"
"Get the fuck out before I kill you or text someone who will." Ace stood up from her bed. She had to be ready.
"We both know I'm faster." The figure was suddenly closer, breathing in the same air Gaze exhaled.
"A lot can happen in ten-years LJ." Ace quickly pulled one of her favorite blades from her bedside table and smiled as she pressed it against his throat.
"I see that the apple doesn't fall too far from the tree. Our Mother would b-"
"MY Mother!!! Don't you dare call her yours, You Bastard!" The man stepped backward as to avoid Ace's dagger but moved too slow. As blood slowly ran down the newly made cut on his cheek. "My mother was a hero and a goddess. Your mother was a villain who corrupted our society and got what she deserved!" Gaze quickly pressed the figure against the wall and held him there by his collar. The blade returned to his throat as she spoke through gritted teeth. "Now, leave me the fuck alone."
There was a knock at her door, whenever she turned to look the figure dissipated into ashes. Damn it! Ace went to go answer the door.
"GG... are you okay? What is all the screaming about?" Kirishima asked her, still rubbing his eyes. She had forgotten his room was just below hers.
Ace thought about explaining... She wondered how she would. But instead, she just leaned on the doorway and let a few tears fall out.
"Whoa... hey, what's wrong bookworm? Are you hurt?" Kiri's hand reached out to her to bring her into a hug, and she stepped back.
"Isn't UA supposed to be safe?"
"What?"
"UA is meant to be safe. To protect students, right? Then how the hell did he get in?"
"Who?"
"Pyro." was all she said before drying her tears and regaining her composure. "I'm sorry. I'll try to keep my voice down, go back to sleep Kiri."
"No, you're clearly upset. I'm not stupid. It wouldn't be very manly of me to go to sleep while you're in this state."
"I'm not in a state... I just-" She searched for an excuse. "I had a bad dream. Now, go to sleep. I'm fine."
"Do you want a distraction? I'm already pretty awake, by the time I fall asleep again, it wouldn't be worth it anyway.", The red-head shrugged. He was messing with the strings on his hoodie.
