Cole Johnson
Two years has passed since that terrible night, in which a group of jocks along with his babysitter tried to get some of his blood for a ritual.
Everything ended bad for them at least, but it felt as if it has been the other way around.
He has been waking up at nights, terrorized by the nightmares with them as the current subject, nowadays the terrible dreams have escalated to a new level, not letting him rest any second of the day.
Sometimes he sees things that aren't there, only to find out he was sleep.
In despite of the terrible situation going on his head, he has nothing to distract himself from the night terrors, and the medicine he has to take every day just make him feel weirder.
Melanie has been hanging out with her new boyfriend and their friends aren't of much help either, they barely talk with him and most of the time leave him aside.
The only exciting or new thing going on during these days, was that new girl, Phoebe, who arrived to the school just the day before and seems like someone certainly odd. Surely a new conflictive addition to the already weird place, but at the same time, a breath of fresh air.
He wasn't sure is she meant bad news of not, yet.
...
But the next morning, as Cole grabs on a paper by the table close to the staircase, he is only able to take a look to it, terrified on the decision his parents have taken behind his back.
They wanted to send him off to a psychiatric institute or something, and they wouldn't even give him a day to think about it, they were going to straight up take him there without further explanation after lunch.
Nevertheless, he heads to the school that morning along with his dad, never once mention what he just found out.
Once at school, he goes straight to where Melanie is in order to tell her about the situation, anything she can tell him would do.
"Melanie, they are sending me away, today" Cole tells her as they stand before his locker.
The hallways are crowded with other students, all of them heading to different places of the building to take lunch, others were just walking around messing up with each other, something usual in that school.
"What do you mean?" Her eyes then travel down to the paper on his hands. "Let me see"
The girl takes the pamphlet from Cole and examines it, frowning at the adhesive note on it which read "Thursday, 1:00 pm".
"No, it's not you, it's this place that's making you crazy" Melanie tells Cole as she gestures towards the mass of people just a couple of steps away.
