After my little extravaganza with Ana, I shut down my computer. I looked at the clock.
11:52 AM
Breakfast time had already passed. I guessed I'd just have a bigger lunch to make up for it. Ana thought otherwise.
Are you crazy? It's just lest calories for you. Less fat swimming around under your skin, hiding your beautiful figure. The body you saw on the computer? It's in there somewhere. We have to find it. I mean, anyways, It's just one meal. Trust me, love. Have I let you down at all so far?
She hadn't. I could just do homework until dad called then go downstairs for lunch. Nonchalant. No big deal. Like Ana said: Just one meal.
"Tay-Bear, sweetheart?" My dad called out, as if on cue.
"Yeah?" I answered.
"You missed breakfast."
"I know. I was researching weight loss. I don't want to be fa-" Ana stopped me mid word.
You think your dad wants you getting skinny? No! He's a chef. He wants you FAT. Just like you used to be. Do you want to go back to that? I didn't think so. You were doing biology homework. You have tons, right?
Her voice was sharp and demanding. She wanted me to lie to my own father. The one who loved me most. I could tell him anything, right?
Wrong, Taylor. You're so lucky to have me to protect you.
"Tay?"
"Oh yeah. I was researching weight loss for a biology project. I don't want to be fa-" I could feel Ana's eyes on me.
"fa....iling! I have a lot of homework. Week before finals, you know."
"Of course, sweety. Okay, come down soon! I don't want you too skinny!" He joked. I didn't think it was funny. He had just validated Ana.
See?
Ana's voice popped into my head.
He doesn't want you skinny. He doesn't want you beautiful. He is the enemy, darling.
Ana was right. I'd have to be secretive about my weight loss. My dad would never approve. I moved reluctantly towards the stairs and descended them into calorie-land.
