Our generation
is not hopeless
Our generation
is not lost
Our generation
is not to blame
for our predicament
They say we are high-wired
and technology addicts
but who gave us these toys?
Who gave us these glowing screens?
Not Us
They say it is our duty
to pay off our debt
but who were the ones
who spent their money irrationally
in the first place?
Who dumped their own debt onto
a younger generation?
Not Us
They call us dumb
They call us rebels
They call us disruptful
and they
'disapprove'
of our behavior
because we sway their ideas
of social norms
because we dare to stand up
and face the problems
our world has
We are not dumb
We are wiser and smarter than we ever have been
We are not rebels
We are standing up for human beings' rights
We are not disruptful
We are calling them out on their old-fashioned ideals and changing them
We have problems
(every generation does)
but we will overcome them
We are strong
We are alive
We will change the world
