((Oh boy, I sure do like making myself and other people sad by writing sad stories.))
"Jameson? Jameson where are you?" A soft voice was heard throughout the home. A young woman looking around the house with worry in her eyes.
"Jameson honey? Please, you know I don't like being alone!" Her voice had distress in her tone, yet she couldn't find her husband anywhere. Not in bed, the bathroom, or even at his job.
Hot tears began to run down her face. She had already reported him missing to the police. But it was as if he never existed! His clothes and personal items were still here. But he himself was nowhere to be found.
"Jameson. Where have you gone?" Her voice was breaking, her loving husband had just left her alone, with a child on the way. How could she ever continue like this? She didn't have the education for a job, and without that, she had little options to look for.
"Oh Jameson...why did you leave? Was there a better woman...?" She began to sob, holding a picture frame close to her chest.
((a few years later...))
(Y/n) was breathing heavily as she carried the two bucks of vegetables up the hill toward the new large mansion. A little boy following after her carrying a bucket of his own. His tiny hands gripping it tightly and using all his strength to lift.
"Come faster, Lucas. You know the lady needs her Vegetables. You know if we are late we won't get any food tonight." (Y/n)'s voice was calm toward the little boy, but it still had a sense of urgency to it.
"Yes mother. I'm trying my best!" Lucas rushed ahead of her toward the large home. Quickly going through a side door toward the kitchen.
"Lucas! Don't spill anything!" She gasped as she heard a scream of terror and panic. "Oh no..." She sits down in buckets of vegetables and rushes inside. There was Lucas trying to pick up from the bucket of vegetables he had spilled. In front of the lady of the household. You quickly helped Lucas and began to pick up the vegetables.
"I'm so terribly sorry my lady. I promise that Lucus was only excited. You see, we were having a race-"
"A race!? A race!? I do not care if you two were having a race! During working hours in my home you are too work and clean! Do not make me tell my husband about what you did!" She spat. Clearly ticked that you had dropped her vegetables.
"Y-Yes my lady, I promise it won't happen again." You stutter as you lift the basket. "I do not care if I don't get food. Just please feed lucas. He can't go another night without any."
The lady of the household huffed, thinking about her offer you had just told her. "Fine. Your son may get food. But you will not. Now, off to milk the cows for milk tomorrow. Your son will clean the living room as punishment for today."
"Yes my lady, Lucas. Be nice to the lady alright? This is her household remember? Mommy will be out in the barn." You lick your thumb and wipe off some dirt on his cheek before leaving toward the barn.
Ever since your husband Jameson disappeared that day, you had lost your house since a woman wasn't allowed to own a house of her own without a man.
It was hard looking for a job since you never really had a proper education since your parents couldn't afford it. But luckily you had found the lady and her husband while trying to find food for Lucas, and they offered that if you worked in their home for free they would feed you and let you live in their barn.
They were even nice enough to take care of Lucas when he was just born. But now since luckas is twelve years old and able to work on his own you both have been working your asses off.
Everytime the lady felt as if you didn't work hard enough she wouldn't give food. And since Lukas was only a little boy, you would ask them to feed him instead.
Going toward the barn you bring out one of the many milking cows. Sitting down on a stool and beginning to milk her. Singing a small lullaby that you would sing to help calm Lucas down when he would cry.
"Mommy?" Lucas's voice was heard. "I'm done with dinner, they told me to head straight to the barn after I ate..."
"That's good, Lucas. Did you enjoy it?" You watch as he walked over and sat next to you.
"Yeah, I did. But it wasn't the same without you...""I know it wasn't honey. But mommy was only looking out for you." You plant a small kiss on his forehead as you finish milking the cow.
"I managed to sneak a roll out just for you mom." Lucas dug inside his pocket and pulled out a smushed, but still good roll. Handing it over to you.
"Thank you Lucas." You said as you walked over to the small beds you slept in at the corner of the barn. "Would you like to hear mommy sing before you head to bed?"
You help Lucas undress and get into his sleeping clothes, Tucking him in tight since you knew tonight would get cold.
"Mommy? Can you tell me about daddy and why he left?"You felt your heart sting. "Well...I know that your daddy loved you so much. And he always worked hard every day to help your mommy get through. He even worked extra to get your mommy a Tv so that you could see what the moving picture was like!"
Lucas smiled up at you. "A tv? Dad worked really hard!" He laughs. But it soon disappeared as quickly as it came. "Why did daddy leave us? Didn't he love us?"
"Lucas, don't ever say that. Daddy loved you so much he would make sure you knew it."
"Then why did daddy leave? Where did he go?"
You felt hot tears stinging in the back of your eyes. "I don't know, honey. Your daddy loved us with all his heart. But just one day, he disappeared without a trace...."
"I hope daddy's okay, mommy."
You kiss Lucas goodnight as you climb in bed.
"I hope daddy's okay too."
