Chapter 1: Tight Shirts, French Toasts and Busy Days.

It was 5am when my alarm went off, disrupting my peaceful slumber. I sat up groggily making the lights inside my room automatically turn on because of the sensors James installed last month, blinding me momentarily. I hissed from the pain. I hate waking up so early but I needed to be at The Academy by 6:00 am today. With a sigh, i stand up and begin walking towards my bathroom.

School doesn't start for three weeks but since we owned the school and since I was left in charge, 'mild training' as my grandfather ever so lightly calls it, my vacation, as non-existent as it already was, was cut much shorter for me to prepare everything for the class opening so that I could have enough time for my college portfolio.

I am now a senior which makes this year promise to be very,  very, very busy.

My grandfather Anthony Woodrow is my only family left. He has taken me under his wings since my mom's gone MIA and my dad's unfortunate passing.

You'd think that being the only family left for each other we'd be buddies yet I rarely see him. 'Always too busy' he'd say.

I understand him though. The Woodrow-Charleston Academy For The Elites, is only one of our many businesses. It's a school that only caters the best of generations. With meeting and transactions scheduled to the shortest of seconds, I'd probably be ghosting my granddaughter too.

After showering for 15 minutes, I blow-dried my hair and made my way to my walk in closet, already tired with just thinking about how this day would be.

I'm at the busiest of my days right now. You see, I need to screen and evaluate each student's academic and extracurricular performances. I have to see their working attitude. I have polish schedules and units that student has to take. But I'm actually almost done, we've sent out the letters last week, giving the students enough time to prepare/transfer.

This week though, is going to be quite stressful. Making new Schedules and curriculum, meeting the new professors.

I actually have make sure that each student gets the best learning experience. And i'm not just saying that for the hell of it, we actually make sure that each timetable would fit the student perfectly and that's what makes us unique, we create true professionals. Some companies even hire our fresh graduates even without a college degree.

The sad thing though is that we have a 2,400 student limit from first grade to senior year. A 200 students per grade/year limit.

I hate making students leave but it's a job that has to be done by no one else but me.

This year, there are 300 of them, all of which failed from one evaluation to another and I had to personally seek out these said students.

I remember the first time I was assigned to do this though, I just turned 15. I was so exited, receiving a call from my grandfather, thinking he'd remembered my birthday. You can just imagine how disappointed I was when he didn't even greet me, he just said: "You're now old enough now to start learning about the business." Then hung up.

Apparently Mrs. Garcia, the former CEO of WC Academy, was taking bribes from parents and students that didn't want to 'be embarrased' by leaving. For a school that stands with the motto: "No amount of money can measure to great education." It was a mockery of principle.

I started out with the little things like paperwork and ground supervisions ti'll I got more and more involved, so here I am now, barely having time for my own academic responsibilities
