They expect something to happen within the next few days but nothing does. Adam has checked on them every so often during the day and first part of the night. The last two days have been peaceful, and they begin to feel safe.
It was like whoever it was just passed through the village and left. Amelia slept in her room on the third night, so did their mother and Hailie. Trevor even stayed on the couch that night. By the fourth day Trevor decided to go home to tend to patients.
He told Irene to let him know if she needs him again and that they could come stay with him. They ultimately decided to try and go through the day like normal. It was pretty safe through the day and even through dinner. Night time came and Amelia was still a little paranoid. She had to keep telling herself that everything was fine.
Amelia couldn't shake the feeling like she was being watched. She tried to shake it off and close the curtains on her window and going to sleep. They made it to day five of normal. Well, except for Hailie healing. Their mom lets Amelia leave the house and go into the shopping area without having to worry so much now too.
They all felt like they could breathe again. Adam is still checking everywhere just to be safe and that Kevin guy is his new partner now. Amelia sees them walking passed the house sometimes on patrol. To be honest, Kevin still gives her the creeps. She began to think it's just how he looks though.
Amelia heads out to her favorite spot to watch the clouds and enjoy the fresh air. It's right next to the shopping area but it's up on a small hill. She lays there and closes her eyes in attempt to clear her mind from all of the racing thoughts.
After a while the wind starts to blow a little and she gets that feeling of being watched again. In her head she tells herself, "Calm down, it's gone. It's nothing. It's been nothing for days. You're paranoid." The feeling won't go away though.
Amelia tries to shake it off, until she hears a voice. "Don't be startled, I'm coming up the hill." Of course she jumps a little and sits up to see who it is. When Amelia opens her eyes, it's Elliot. She lets out the breath that she was holding in. "Oh, thanks for the warning." He lets out a slight laugh, "You still jumped though. Is it too much for me to ask why you're so jumpy?"
"No, I guess not now at least. A few days ago...somebody came into the village and he attacked my sister. That kind of thing never happens here so it scared us. The last few days, nothing has happened so I came up here to try and clear my head. So it's not you, I promise." She replies.
He smiles a little and glances into her eyes. "Well good, I'd hate to be the one scaring you. I mean, it's not good what happened but I'm glad it's not me making you jumpy. You said your name was Amelia right?"
Amelia blushes slightly and nods, "Yeah, and you're Elliot. There's not that many people that live here so it's pretty easy to remember everyone I meet. It's nice to see you and your dad are adjusting well. I see your dad and Adam patrolling passed the house sometimes. He's determined to find something."
"I met Adam a couple of times, he seems like a good guy. My dad likes him, he don't normally get along with people so easily when we move. "He says calmly. She replies with a question, "Oh, do you move a lot?"
He sighs lightly, "Yeah, we have moved a few times. France is the place I remember being in first though. My dad is trying to find the perfect place to settle down in so we travel a bit." Her eyes widen a little. "Well I hope he likes it here... I mean, I'd like to get to know you more."
Amelia feels butterflies in her stomach, she's nervous about how he will respond. Amelia thinks to herself, "I can't believe I just said that to him so bluntly." He grins at her, but in a sweet playful way. "I'd like to get to know you too. We could hang out if you want to." Amelia glances up to see the sun getting a little lower. "I would love to, but I really should be getting home. I've been out for a few hours and my mom is still a little on edge. But, if you're not doing anything tomorrow... I would love to."
