"Slow night." Stacey mumbled, taking a pen in her hand and writing something down on dying receipt paper. "All I want is a bottle of wine.""Same here." I said in agreement as I scanned the store with my eyes that were slowly loosing focus. "We better stop there on the way home. I mean, we got tommrow off. Might as well have a big party." The joke I made didn't sit well with me, right after a shortened laugh I let out a heavy sigh and my lips were pulled down into a frown.
"We just got out of fucking jail Hedi." Stacey said seriously, studying the lighters infront of her and eventually reached to grab one. "Ring me in for one will you?"
"Yeah no problem." I replied and took the black lighter from her. "It'll burn the same size hole in your pocket as always."
Stacey handed me the change and then reached in her pocket to pull out a cigerette. "Could you hold down the fort?"
"Mhm." Loosing my attention span, I doodled random stuff on the counter until I heard footsteps approach me. If nobody had walked in I'd probobly fall asleep. "How can I help you?" I asked mid yawn, instantly slapping my hand to my mouth.
"Don't let me keep you up." I'd have to admit, the man was very attractive; blonde hair, ocean blue eyes. "Just a pack of cigarettes please." He grumbled as he stared down at his shoes.
"You got something you need to talk about?" I raised one eyebrow as I slapped the smokes on the counter.
"Kind of a messed up day." He admitted, sighing as he pulled out his wallet.
I let on a smile as I put my hand on his arm. "Now c'mon how can someone as handsome as you have such a bad day?"
"Well apparently my now ex girlfriend doesn't feel the same as you do." He shrugged and handed me a twenty dollar bill. "I'm Kurt. Kurt Cobain."
"I'm Hedi. Hedi Rothwell." I imitated his introduction, holding my hand out for a quick shake. "Sorry about the girlfriend though..."
"Oh no don't be." He waved me off, opening up the pack of smokes . "Uh is it allowed--."
"I can make exceptions for certain people." I placed my elbows on the counter and leaned towards him, indcitiating I was interested in continuing our little interaction. "Hey, you're in that band! Nirvana!"
Kurt nodded and blew a cloud of smoke into the air.
"My best friend plays y'alls tunes all the time." I told him while becoming slightly more excited. "I'll die a happy women knowing Kurt Cobain bought smokes off of me."
"What time do you get off?" He asked me. I looked up at the clock, it read 8:00pm.
"Right now as a matter of fact." I answered. Not gonna lie, I wish that wasn't the case. To tell the truth, I was crushing and star struck. And I just wanted more time with him.
"Well that's perfect I thought maybe-." Kurt was cut off by Stacey running back in the store.
"OH MY GOD KURT COBAIN!" She screamed with excitement and jumped up and down. I rolled my eyes and gave Kurt a sympathetic look.
"I'm sorry about her." I couldn't help but laugh out of second hand embarrassment.
"No it's fine." Kurt reassured me and turned back to Stacey. "Anything you want me to sign for you?"
"YES!" I started cleaning the registers as I watched Kurt sign every single belonging she had.. let's just hope it doesn't escalate to body parts..
Once he had finished his "business" with Stacey, he turned back to me. "I was gonna ask you if you wanted to come to the show tonight? I'll get you and your friend good seats and it's on the house."
