"Roman, my feet hurt," Remus said. Roman rolled his eyes.

"Then put your shoes back on," He said. They had been walking for an hour. They were both exhausted, but they kept going. It was late. They didn't even know if the hotel was still open. But they had to at least try.

"Oh, yeah!" Remus said. "Can we stop then?"

Although Roman wanted to say no so that they could arrive sooner, he wished so much to sit down for just a minute. He looked at his watch.

"Okay. But as soon as they're back on, we're back walking. It's another half hour til we're there." Remus nodded. They sat on a park bench and Remus struggled to get on his boots over his black and green striped socks.

Roman looked at the sign. A victorious smile spread over his face.

"Remus, we're here!" Roman exclaimed, turning to look at Remus. But Remus wasn't there. He was across the street, talking to someone. "Goddammit, Remus..." Roman muttered, walking across the street. "Remus!" Roman exclaimed, hitting Remus in the back of the head.

"Ow!" Remus exclaimed, hitting Roman in the arm.

"Who's this and why is he more important than our freedom?" Roman asked.

"This is Janus."

"Why are you out here so late?" Roman asked, crossing his arms. The boy wouldn't face them completely.

"I was walking to the gas station. I want a pop. Why are you out?" Janus asked.

"We're here to run away from our parents. So come on, Remus," Roman said, taking Remus's wrist.

"Well, I'll be around. Hope to see you again, Remus," He said with a wink. Roman rolled his eyes and dragged his twin away.

"Why'd you drag me away from the hot guy!" Remus wined. Roman rolled his eyes.

"Because..." He pushed Remus's head up so he was looking at the sign. "Tonight we are victorious!" He sang. Remus hit Roman in the back of the head. "Ow! Dude, you like that song!"

"Yes, and you also tore me away from a hot guys who seemed like he liked me, so we're even now." Roman rolled his eyes and pulled on the door. He smiled as the weight of the door pulled back with his arm.

He looked behind the front desk, seeing someone sitting in a chair, writing something down. There were many pieces of papers, some crumpled, some with tear stains on them, around him.

"Uh..." Roman trailed, not knowing what to do. The person stood up immediately.

"Oh! Sorry! I didn't know if anyone was coming today and most of our guests are attending the movie that we're hosting. I'm Andi, he/him, how can I help you?" He said, putting on a pair of purple rectangle frame glasses.

"We need a place to say. We saw a website that said that you did that stuff..." Roman said nervously.

"Okay! Will you be needing one or two rooms?" Andi asked.

"Two!" Roman and Remus said quickly.

"Okay, I'll set your preferences first then," Andi said, pointing at Roman. "I need your name."

"Roman Kingsly."

"Okay, Pronouns and/or gender. You may answer that you don't know," Andi said with a sweet, motherly smile (despite being a boy)

"He/Him, male."

"Okay, here's your key-card. I'll lead you to your room after I take care of this person." Andi turned to Remus. "Name?"

"Remus Kingsly," Remus said.

"Pronouns and/or gender?"

"I... Uh... He/Him pronouns. But I don't... I..." Remus looked lost.

"Prefer not to say?" Remus nodded. Andi smiled. "Got it. Here's your key-card. Follow me!" He said, putting a sign on the front desk and rushing to the elevator. Roman and Remus followed, carrying their stuff behind them.

They reached a floor and Andi lead them to a room.

"Okay, so this one should be Roman's," Andi said, motioning to the door. Roman used his key-card to open the door. Andi motioned to the other door. "This is your room." Remus unlocked the door.

"Thanks."

"No problem! And no pressure, but if you're confused about your gender, we have people of pretty much every gender here. If you want to ask someone, just come to me and I can probably set up a meeting. Everyone here are so kind, I'm sure they'd be happy to help," Andi said with a smile. "I was actually confused about my gender for a while too. I'm a boy, I know that now, but I don't know if you've noticed, but..." Andi motioned to his skirt, "I don't wear cis-male-normative clothes." Remus let out a small laugh.

"Thanks," Remus said with a nod. "I should like... sleep and shit now." Andi nodded.

"Of course! Goodnight!" Andi said before skipping off.

The brothers felt pits in their stomach.

It was so strange.

How were people so nice there? How? They were just strangers who were basically imposing. How did people manage to be so kind about it.

Regardless, they changed and got into the beds in each of their rooms, which were far more comfortable than the ones that had at home.

They fell asleep almost as soon as they hit the pillow.

Maybe they could restart here. Be happy. Not be abused and learn about who they were.
