"Olivaaaa!!!", a strong woman's voice spread out all over the region of our small poor house..
"Come out, I'm tired of waiting", she shouted at me
"I'm coming mom", I replied loudly
It was a cool morning that mom, I and brother Abel were going to town to purchase some goods for the house.
"Oooh! Look at my pretty sister, you really look beautiful today, I constantly regreat why I am your brother haha".. brother Abel joked
"Stop spouting nonsense to your little sister.. you sound like an idiot".. mother interfered.
We all worked down the road to the bus stop and departed to the marketplace in town. The experience was really great since it was my first time in town precisely at the marketplace. Mother had a list of goods to buy since she did not want to spend a lot of time roaming around, we bought everything and started leaving the market.
On our way out, I saw very beautiful shoes and wanted to try my luck.."Ooh! Mama, please buy me those shoes, I promise to fetch water the whole month alone.." I cried out, and in fact the shoes were so beautiful.
"Shut up.. we don't have enough money left, so you better zip that hideous mouth right now!!!.." she replied harshly
"But mama, why don't we go back and ask, the price might me affordable.." my brother interrupted
"Heeey, so you both want me to steal or pluck out my kidney for your sake..! Okay go and ask the price since it is all you wish, but to be honest I won't give any money.." she screamed
"Come, lets go dear" my sweet brother said
" Hi, what is the price of these shoes" brother asked confidently
"70k Tshs bro.." Seller replied
"Whaaat, how could such shoes be that expensive.." shouted brother Abel
Wonderful enough at the very same instant, came a young girl who really looked rich along with her mother..
"Ooh! Mama, I want those shoes.." she told her mother
"Oh dear, how many pairs will you buy today? It is an 8th pair since we entered the market.." replied her mother in a lovely tone
"Eighth pair????" I said to myself
In no minute they came to where we were standing
"Hello, I need this pair please.." the mother asked
"70k Tshs madam" replied the seller
"Okay..." she said calmly showing no signs of shock
Infront of my eyes, she opened her wallet and paid for the shoes, I managed to see a lot of money in her wallet as well.
"Daamn!!!" I ran speechless
"Thanks mommy..." Her daughter said happily
"God, how could this be.." I was very puzzled,
"Brother, did you just see how that woman walked up here and paid for that pair? No bargaining, she totally did not bargain...""There are rich people and poor people.." He said, "The rich people can always get what they want and poor people like us can never get everything we want.."
"So, why are we not rich?" I replied sadly
"Dear, we were born poor and we shall die poor.." he replied
I listened to him very carefully but said nothing until we reached where mom was standing waiting for us.
"So, how was the experience.." she shouted, "So, are you finally happy to mock me Abel?, where is the pair of shoes, wheree!!!... okay kill me now, I know both of you want me dead just because of that pair of shoes.. what is it that you want from me? You kids are giving me headache.. real headache.. ooh oh oh " she started crying loudly
"Mama stop it, you are creating a scene for no good reason" said brother
He helped her to get up and we went to the bus stop and all the way back home...
