When we arrived in the city, it was already very late. We looked for a hotel to sleep in and there we were, it was a beautiful hotel to be precise and I had so many new things to learn.. like the showers, bathtubs, the TV and the CCTV cameras.. all these we new to me and I devoted my time to learn as fast as I could because after all, this was the life I ever dreamt of."Oh mama! How I wish this was our everyday life.." I said to mom when I was still taking a warm shower in the bathtub for almost two hours so far
"Well dear, good life comes with a price and you must be willing to pay for it" mom said politely
"How much?" I asked
"I don't think you're ready to hear the price" she whispered
"Oh!" I came out of the bathtub in a hurry, " Mom are you okay?" She was nose bleeding
"I need to rest" she laid her head on the pillow. I hurried and fetched some water from the tap to clean her bleeding nose, worry embedded in my eyes. I couldn't sleep till the bleeding stopped and mom fell asleep.
The next morning I woke up early, got ready and prepared my mother for the hospital trip. We took a taxi and ordered the driver to take us to the hospital, any famous expensive hospital and within something like twenty minutes, we arrived outside an astonishing hospital.
"Whoaa!" I felt happy, "Mama you are going to be fine.. I promise"
"Thank you.." she smiled
"Excuse me, I need to see a doctor" I asked someone passing by
"There are some procedures you have to follow, go at the receiption and ask" He replied and left
We went to the receiption and as soon as possible, we were directed to a doctor's room. When we entered the room, the doctor asked me about my mother's symptoms and I showed full cooperation. He then ordered me to stay outside to give them some privacy
After a long wait something like three hours, my mother came out of the room very exhausted..
"Mama what is it?" I was worried
"Go inside" She whispered
In flash of a second I was already inside.."Doctor wht did you tell her?.. she is vulnerable and weak, you can't tell her anything heartbreaking.. how heartle..."
"Your mother is very sick.." He interupted, "Infact, it is more than I expected"
"Are you seriuos?" I lost my body balance
"I'm not joking, there's only one way to save your mother.." He said
"Anything doctor, I'll do anything for my mother.. She the only thing I have.." I cried
"A transplant.. she needs a heart transplant, her heart is very weak and she might not handle stressful stuffs.."
"Heart!?" I jumped off my seat, "God! Doctor, can such a thing even be possible? How can someone donate their heart, can someone even live with another one's heart??.."
"Yes..! You accept the transplant and search for a donor or she dies" He said
"Okay, I have no idea of what I need to do or how I shall do it.. But whatever it takes, I'll do to save my mother" I said
"Okay.. the process requires 80 million" he said
"Heeeeeeey! How much??" My eyes nearly popped out
"Yes we need to search for a donor, pay for the organ and pay for the surgery.." He explained
"80 million, really 80 million... Does that amount of money even exist?" My heart felt weak
"I'm sorry, but it is the only possible thing that can be done.." He concluded
I left the hospital even more exhausted than mom.. not knowing what to do. When we arrived home, I searched my wallet to confirm the amount of money remaining.. it was tiny, negligible, well name any small thing you know here compared to the money required.
