Oliva's POV
Some moments later, I woke up..
"I didn't kill him, I swear!" I said weakly
"Nobody said you killed him, don't feel guilty over something that you did not commit.." Insisted sister Fransisca
"I..." I started shouting
"Everyone keep quiet, I'm still mourning my son and you are busy shouting.." she said softly, "Everyone leave.. I shall stay here with Oliva"
All my sisters left us in the living room.. infact brother Abel's death was conducted so quietly.. How could the richualist be this heartless, he could atleast give us his body so we could conduct a proper funeral. I was still weak all this time, my body looked pale, eyes red, hair dirty, clothes stained.. infact I was a complete mess
" Oliva, this must never be known by anyone not even your sisters. We'll be in a very big trouble if the world finds out about this. I am your mother, your secrets are safe with me.. Forget about this, it never happened.." Mother spoke with full strength
"I'm not sure if I shall ever forget this, it is burried in my heart mama.. I won't ever move on, never mama! I'll get sick and probably die soon. Nothing seems to make sense at all.." I was unknowingly sobbing all this while
"Oliva.. come here my baby" mom held me in her arms, " Abel is my first child, I love him so much than you ever expected and I'll mourn him every single second of my life. But please, be strong for me.. I can't live if I loose you as well, do it for me okay?.. Do it for mama..!!" She insisted
"Okay mom" I said politely not sure if I really meant it. This was my very first heartbreak, infact I wished to go back to the time when brother Abel was alive and remain there where no money or regrets counted.
I went through a series of awful nightmares, sleepless nights, loneliness and endless tears as each second of the day passed. Nothing seemed to make sense. Before I knew it, my sisters Jenipher and Fransisca got married to the very far villages hence it was me and mom all along.
We were both weak and mom's health was degrading day by day. I had no alternative other than be my mother's strength, I did all the house chores till I became an expert and learnt several skills that I was lacking. Sadly, my mother's health was not improving no matter how I tried to prepare several herbs and tonics.
One rainy morning I woke up energetic as usual and started doing house chores as usual feeling the sense of of maturity and responsibility. I left home after the morning chores to search for herbs when mother was still sleeping. When I returned home, I found mom in a very terrible condition
"Mama, what is it.." I was puzzled
"Oliva, I'm sick dear.." mom was in pain, "I feel like dying.."
"Mamaa! How can you say such a thing, wait! I brought some herbs.. give me some seconds, I'll prepare some tonics" I panicked
"No dear! I need to see a doctor, I must meet a doctor.. let's go to the city" she pleaded
"Whoo? A doctor!! In the city? But how! We don't have enough money .." I paused.."Oh! I have money, I have some dollars mama" I ran to my room and searched my secret money store.. there was money, a lot of money.. a lot of it. I got this money from a man I helped in the city, he gave me the business card as well.
"Oh God!" I kissed them both, " Heavens have always favoured me"
Without wasting any time, I packed our bags and helped mom to get ready. I dressed some outfits that sister Isabella bought for me, daaaamn!!! I looked like a real town lady...
