Playing with Knives

Chapter 15

"I have to be with her!" I tell as I push my way to her room.

  I look at the doctors as they pull the knife out. They inject her with something. Then they operate on the wound. I think they are helping, I wait sitting in the chair across the room. I have to make sure she doesn't die.

  Once they finished they all walked out and left. I walked up to Clove.

  "Please don't leave me." I whisper and bend down to kiss her forehead.

  I move my chair next to her bed. I wait for her to wake.

  Clove pov:

  I slowly open my eyes. I turn my head to the side. My vision is blurry, I see blonde hair. I think it's Cato.

  "Clove!" He says.

  "C-Cato?" I ask.

  "Yes! Oh my god Clover you scared me. I was afraid you died. What happened?" He says.

  "Slow down. I'm trying to comprehend this all." I say.

  "Haha alright. How did you get stabbed?" He asks.

  "I-I...Um I can't remember." I say.

  "Maybe you'll remember later."

  "Yeah." I say.

  Later someone walks into the room. He looks familiar but I can't make out how.

  "Cato, Snow wants to see you." He says.

  "I can't leave Clove alone."

  "He said its urgent."

  "Um...Okay fine. Clove I'll see you in a bit." Cato says.

  "Bye Cato." I say.

  "Hey Clove, how you recovering?" The strange man asks.

  "Do I know you?" I ask.

  He mutters something I can't quite understand.

  "What was that?" I ask.

  "Oh nothing." He says as he walks out.

  That was weird, I don't know who he was. I hope Cato is alright. I just want to get out of here but I have to heal.

  I fall asleep.

Cato Pov:

  "You wanted to see me?" I ask Snow.

  "Yes Cato, I wanted to talk about your district partner Clove."

  "What about her?"

  "First why don't you have something to drink." Snow says as he hands me a cup of water.

  "Um okay." I say and take the water.

  ''Now Cato about Clove." He pauses.

  I drink the water.

  "I want you know Clove was trying to kill you. She doesn't care about you. She only wanted to win and faked her love. Clove Kentwell hates you she wants to kill you now. She is sadistic, ruthless, and emotionless. Clove would never care about you, she thinks of you as her ticket home. She stabbed herself to frame you for trying to kill her. Now Cato answer me, who is Clove Kentwell?"

  "Clove Kentwell is my enemy."

  "What must you do to her?"

  "I have to kill her."

  "When must you kill her?"

  "The Victory tour at our district."

  "Until then you fake your love for her."

  "I do not love Clove but I must fake it."

  "Good. Cato you may go."

  I walk out of his office and back to Clove.

  Clove Pov:

  "Clove wake up."

  I open my eyes.

  "Cato your back. What did Snow want?" I ask.

  "Oh he just wanted um...To remind us of the Victory tour." He says.

  "Right...I'll have to face Katniss and Peeta's families. I killed them ruthlessly. They are going to hate me."

  "Why are you worried about them? You shouldn't care what they think, it was your life or theirs." He says.

  "Cato why would you say that? You know how sad I was when I lost my younger sister."

  I never told anyone but I had a younger sister and she died in the games. She made it close though even though she was young, she had placed 4th and died to district 1. Her name was Ariana, she was 12 and got reaped my parents wouldn't let me volunteer I was only a year older than her. So the next year I volunteered at age 14 and won. But I still had lost my sister, I loved her so much. Cato is the only one I told about my feelings, he's the only one I can trust.

  "I cant imagine how Katniss's little sister feels. After I killed Katniss." I say.

  Cato stayed silent, which was odd. He seemed different, what happened with Snow. I'm suspicious of what Snow did. Did he threaten Cato? I need to talk to Enobaria. Where is she when I need her.

"Its getting late Cato, you should head back to the apartment." I say.

"Alright bye Clove." He says.

He walks out of the room. I cant believe him, he would never leave me like that. Snow did something and I don't feel safe around him. I think the victory tour is tomorrow. I'm nervous for district 4 and 12. I know Finnick was in love with the victor Annie Cresta and she went mad after her partner died. She must want to kill me. And Katniss's family, I killed Katniss and Peeta, I gave Katniss a painful death and she had a sister like me. She volunteered for her last year. I can tell this tour wont be fun at all. I can't show all this emotion I wish I could shut it off, its too much.

I lay down and think. I hate Snow so much, he ruined my life twice. What if I start a revolution? Not like anyone would follow me, I'm from District 2. We are known as the ruthless, heartless, killers. They would never follow someone like me. Especially how I acted in the games. But I should at least try. Its settled I'm going to speak out at the victory tour, ill let them know I have feelings, that I hate Snow. If it gets me killed then at least they know what I'm trying to do.

I'll figure out what Snow did to Cato. He does not get to interfere with me and Cato. We are finally in a good place I don't want to ruin that.
