that time of the month

Nervously, I nibbled at my fingernails. Today, Mikey was sleeping over and would be here in a few. Normally, this wouldn't be a problem but today was a full moon.

And I still haven't told him that I was a werewolf. Somehow, I had managed to hide it from him and now I had to tell him because there was no way I could explain to him why I would disappear and a wolf would pace around my home.

What if he judged me for not telling him? Would he get angry that I kept such a major part of myself from him? Or would he simply not believe me? I mean, yes it was known that we exist but still not everyone believed it.

At least I was born as one so I had control over myself, even during a full moon and not have to learn it first. To the unsuspecting eye, I looked like a well trained dog.

The shrill ring of the doorbell pulled me out of my thoughts and I plastered a happy smile on my face.

"Hey baby!" Mikey greeted me and pecked my lips shortly.

"Hi, Mikey" I closed the door behind him. He went straight to my bedroom to put his bag away.

"Do you have planned anything in particular for today? I thought we could make a movie marathon and maybe cook together? I brought everything we need for lasagna with me," My boyfriend told me while coming back to the living room.

I nodded. "Yeah, that sounds amazing. But we have to put the meat in the refrigerator first."

He slapped his forehead. "Yeah, right, I almost forgot."

After having done that, we sat down in the living room and I coaxed him into playing a board game with me.

"Nooooo!" Mikey exclaimed, falling back dramatically like he had been shot.

I laughed at his childish behaviour. "Don't be such a baby and admit that you lost!" I told him, still giggling.

"Never!" He shouted and then threw himself at me and began tickling me.

We fought for a while until I raised my hands in surrender, or at least attempted to. "Stop! I give up, you win!" I giggled and added a quiet "next time" as he had let go of me, a satisfied expression on his face.

At that Mikey turned back to me, hands hovering over my stomach to tickle me again.

"What did you just say?" He wanted to know, smirking.

"Nothing!" I shrieked and squirmed away.

The day was filled with other shenanigans until I couldn't avoid the topic further due to the fact that it would turn dark outside in a few. And I had to tell him by then.

So as we sat down after cooking together, I suddenly wasn't able to look him in the eyes properly anymore.

Of course, Mikey noticed. "Y/N? What's the matter?"

I fiddled with my fingers, contemplating how I should phrase it. "You know werewolves exist, right?"

"Yeah, but they are pretty rare, aren't they? Why do you ask?" He sounded confused but not repulsed by the general idea. I looked up to see an adorable questioning expression on his face.

"Well, I am one," I confessed.

Mikey stayed calm and smiled at me encouragingly. "That's cool, babe! Please don't take this the wrong way, I'm just curious but why did you choose to tell me now?" He asked hesitantly.

A weight fell off my chest at this reaction. I could understand his question and didn't take it as an accusation.

"Uhm, today's a full moon so I thought you deserved a warning," I said kind of sheepish.
