Here For You [Goku x Vegeta]

Chapter Ten

Days went by and the day to put Gine to rest neared. Goku stared at his feet wondering if he was doing the right thing. His mind was everywhere as was his emotions. One side wanted to keep Gine here wanted to hold on to the hope of seeing her wake up, while the other knew he had to let her go. It wasn't fair to keep Gine like that. Goku sighed burying his face in the palms of his hands. He heard a sharp knock on the door bringing him back to the present. He walked over to his door and the person he least suspected stood there. It was Bardock. The dead beat father held an empty bottle of whiskey. His sharp gaze burned straight through Goku. "Why?" Goku was taken back by the question. Slowly he began to notice the rage hiding behind Bardock's gaze. "W-Why? why what?"

 "You were the last hope... Why?!" Bardock yelled pushing Goku back. The frighten teen stumbled backwards nearly falling over. "W-what did I do? D-Dad wait!" Bardock didn't listen he kept yelling the same things over and over. Goku was paralyzed with fear he would always hear his father yell angrily at his brother, but he never expected that same terrifying rage to be directed at him. "D-Dad please y-you're scaring me!" Bardock stopped for a moment a deep scowl etched on his face. He bared his teeth at Goku before taking a swing at his son with the empty bottle of whiskey. The bottle impacted hard shattering upon contact with Goku's head. Goku yelled in pain as glass buried itself deep in his skin. His head was spinning as he fell to the floor. Blood quickly streamed down his face. "Why did you give up on her?! You... You..." From what Goku could see, he saw his father fall to his knees sobbing hard. "You were the last hope... Now... Now she's gonna leave us forever... She..." Goku managed to sit up. His vision still was hazy. "D-Dad..." He tried to reach out to him, but Bardock slapped his hand away. "Don't touch me!" Goku recoiled his hand he felt tears run down his cheeks mixing with the blood dripping down his face. His heart wrenched and twisted breaking more than it was already. He looked at Bardock like a stranger. 

Goku held his scrapped knee. He was crying as he heled his bloody knee. He had fallen off his bike, and he hadn't put on any safety gear. He tried to suck it up and stand to walk home only for his knee to give way beneath. Goku tried to look around for his mother surly she hadn't gone too far. Before he began to call for her he felt a strong pair of arms lift him up easily. Goku looked up to see his father. "You alright kiddo?" Goku's eyes watered more and buried his face into the crook of Bardock's neck. "Hey, hey it's gonna be alright. C'mon I'll fix you up." Bardock rubbed Goku's back as the caring father took the little boy back inside. He cleaned Goku's bloody knee placing a band-aid on the scrape. "See? All better." Bardock said smiling wiping away Goku's tear stained cheek. 

Goku was thrown back into the present as Raditz was lifting him up by his under arms. He barely had an idea in what had just happened he was too stunned. 

"Are you fucking insane? Why the fuck would you do this you drunk jackass! Get the fuck out of here! GET OUT!" Raditz yelled pissed as hell. Goku blankly stared after his father as he walked out of the room. "Kakarrot... Are you okay?" Raditz sat Goku down on his bed cupping his face. The younger brother was unresponsive still. He felt his older brother begin to clean up the blood on his face. "C'mon we need to go to the hospital..." Goku let his brother lead him to the car. He didn't even resist to go in the car he just did. The ride to the hospital felt like it had been going on forever. He was trying to process what had happened. He felt a familiar heavy feeling in his chest. Goku did his best to suppress that horrid feeling as the truth began to dawn on him

The doctors removed all the glass shards from Goku's head some of the wounds required stitches, and they made sure there was nothing else right. Raditz only reported it as an accident in handling glass. Goku didn't say anything else either. In fact he didn't say a peep. Raditz was saying some things but Goku barely listened. When they made it home Bardock was on the floor passed out with another empty bottle. His heavy breathing echoed the quiet home. Goku clenched his fists and ran to his room. He couldn't bare to look at his father anymore. The once caring father he had was gone forever. He grabbed his phone shooting a quick text to Vegeta.

Goku: Vegeta, I'm coming over. Is that okay?

Vegeta: Sure. Is there something going on?

Goku: I'll tell you when I get there.

Goku walked idly down the roads. He told Raditz where he was going beforehand. He reached his boyfriend's home in a few hours. Goku stared at the large home. Each step he took felt like stone. He gently knocked on the door. It was only minutes before Vegeta answered. "Kakarrot? What happened to your head?" Goku stared at Vegeta for what felt like forever. When he opened his mouth the first thing that came out was a choked out cry. Vegeta took Goku inside to consul him as Goku told him the events that took place hours before he came here. 

"I.. It's over... It's all over." Goku whimpered in Vegeta's embrace. "I lost him and Mom... I.." Goku held on tighter to his boyfriend trailing off. "I didn't think he would do that. He blames me now. He... He hates me..." 

"No he doesn't. Kakarrot, he's... he's just lost. He can't deal with the grief like you did."

"But why did he do this to me?"

"I don't know. It's inexcusable yes but... It doesn't mean he hates you. If he did he would of done something..." Vegeta shook his head, "He doesn't hate you." 

"What do I do?"

"You have to keep going. It's hard but we can do it together. After all we're on the same boat, right?" 

Goku looked at Vegeta who held a soft but sad look. "Yeah... We're in the same boat." Both leaned into each other pressing their lips together softly in a gentle kiss. Goku left his lips linger one Vegeta's for a while longer. He felt Vegeta's hands rest on his hips. For a moment he forgotten all of his problems and wanted nothing more than to remain like this with Vegeta. 

"I love you, Vegeta."
