Goku stood before his mother once more. For the past few weeks the teen has been thinking about letting his mother go. At first things were rocky, the thought of letting his mom go disgusted him. How can he even phantom a thought like that? However, as days passed Goku began to reason with himself. For years he held on to the hope of seeing his mother awake again. Ever since he was 4 he held on to that. Ever since then his family tried everything they could to bring Gine back, but try as they might nothing would ever work.
As Goku looked at Gine he couldn't help but cry again. After all this time he's finally letting her go. He felt so lost without his mother. He didn't want to let her go, but Raditz was right. They can't keep Gine like this. Goku sat down next to his mother gently grabbing her hand. "M-Mom... I... I'm sorry... i can't leave you like this. Broken... I'm sorry..." No matter how many times Goku apologized he can never stop his river of tears. He kept clinging to the past hoping for the near impossible. Goku finally regained his composure after a while of crying. He still felt awful but at least he wasn't a sobbing mess. The young teen decided to go home early. He was afraid that if he'd stay a while longer he would break down all over again. When Goku made it home Raditz was arguing with their father over his drinking. He stood there for a while just staring at the two bite at each other's throats. Something snapped in Goku, he was tired of going home having to see the same thing happen over and over. He clenched his fist, "Will you two just shut up!" Silence quickly fell as Raditz and Bardock turned to Goku with stunned expressions. "Why can't you just stop this already? Don't you see it's getting us nowhere?" Without another word Goku stormed off into his room. He could hear his brother call after him. Demanding the younger brother to come back and explain himself for the out burst. Of course Goku ignored it all he locked his bedroom door before throwing himself on the bed. He buried his face into the pillows screaming into them. Raditz banged his fist on the door, "Kakarrot open this door now!" Goku heard the door handle jiggle violently. "Kakarrot!"
It was a while before Goku opened the door. When he did he found his brother sitting in front of it. He opened his mouth to speak but he stopped himself after he heard soft cries from Raditz. Goku reached out to him his hand gently nudging his shoulder. "Raditz..." The older brother stood up turning to face the younger one. Goku felt his brother's large warm hands wrap around his body pulling him in a tight embrace.
"I-I'm sorry, Kakarrot... I should've done more." Goku felt a wave of emotions wash over. He hugged back tightly crying into Raditz's chest. He knew Raditz was in as much pain as he. After all it was Raditz who took over the family. Made sure things never went under water. He never had the chance to experience his teenage years. Raditz was forced to grow up instantly in order to take care of the broken family. Goku knew this yet he blamed his brother for not trying hard enough. For this the younger brother felt so much guilt. His brother had done everything to keep his family together.
The breaking family was tight on money. Bardock was fired from his job because his drinking got out of hand. The broken man blew off the remaining money on cheap booze. Raditz was forced to drop out of college in order to support what's left of his family. Whenever the older brother would come back home Goku would always see the tiredness in his physique. Despite all of this Raditz did his absolute best to be there for his little brother since their father couldn't be bothered anymore. However, Goku refused any help offered by Raditz. All the little boy wanted was his family back. He pushed his older brother away every time he would try to approach him. It went on like that for years after. As Goku grew up he never let his brother in and blamed him for not being enough.
The two brothers remained in each other's embrace for a while. Each of them letting out their painful tears. "I-It wasn't your fault. You did everything, Raditz. Everything you could." Goku's voice was shaky as he spoke. He felt his brother's grip tighten around his body. More silence passed in the tight embrace. What else could be said? What's done is done and what said is said. Right now all that they needed was silence. After all sometimes silence is bliss.

It was in the witching hours when Goku received a distressed call from his boyfriend. Goku groggily picked it up wondering why would Vegeta call this late? All Goku could think about if something bad happened. Much to his dismay it was indeed something bad.
"K-Kakarrot..." Vegeta's voice sounded like he'd been crying. Goku could hear his soft sniffles and soft cries in the back. "Vegeta? What's wrong?"
"It's over... It's finally over... I... shit.."
Goku was confused, "what do you mean? W-what's over?" He heard more broken sobs. "My father... He's... He's gone." time seemed to stop. Goku felt his heart drop and the blood drain from his face. "They couldn't save him... We tried. We tried everything to bring him back. I... I don't know what to do! I need him here! He knows everything! I... How am I supposed to take care of my brother? My mother is gone she left us and now... now..." Vegeta began to cry heavily over the phone. It made Goku wince hating to hear his other half break down like that. "Vegeta... I-It's gonna be okay. I-I'm here." Goku spoke softly. He stayed on the phone for the rest of the night. Listening to Vegeta trying to help him out of this.
The next day Vegeta didn't come to school. Everyone was perplexed in why. Everyone except Goku. He knew why and kept his mouth shut. He couldn't wait for school to end so he can find Vegeta. His classes dragged on painfully slow unfortunately. Goku often checked his phone for updates on Vegeta. Only to find his boyfriend to be silent. Whenever school ended Goku bolted from his class running to Vegeta's home. When he arrived he found the house looking as desolate as ever. Goku knocked at the door when he saw Vegeta he pulled him for a hug. Almost in an instant Vegeta broke down crying all over again. "Shhh, it's okay, Vegeta. It's going to be okay."

Weeks passed since Vegeta lost his father. Goku did his best to bring comfort to him and support. As for home Goku finally told Raditz his decision about their mother. As much as it pained him to say it, he had to let Gine go. He recalled how that conversation went. It pained Goku to even recall the words that slipped from his mouth.
"Raditz... I... You were right."
Raditz looked at Goku with an odd expression obvious confused about Goku's statement. "I wanted to tell you weeks ago but... I couldn't bring myself to. I think it's time to let Mom go." Goku looked down at his feet feeling tears well up in his eyes. "I-I don't wanna... I really don't wanna but... It's not fair to her." The young teen felt hot tears stream down his cheeks dripping into his lap dampening the cloth beneath. His heart wrenched and throbbed becoming heavy with grief and sorrow. Raditz remained silent but he held a saddened gaze. "It was never fair, Kakarrot."
Goku once again was sitting beside his mother knowing her time is limited. He curled up next to Gine breathing in her sweet scent. He cried softly into her neck. "Please wake up... Wake up Mommy..." Unbeknownst to Goku, Gine began to cry too. Her tears staining her pale cheeks.
