THE FOLLOWING CONTAINS SENSITIVE CONTENT. PLEASE SKIP YOU ARE UNCOMFORTABLE.The world became heavy. Smoke clouded everything. Pain ran its claws against skin. Blood formed puddles on the ground. Every object twisted in unnatural angles. The sirens howled endlessly. In the center of it all was a woman and a child. One wailed the other lay still in silence.
"Mommy! Mommy!" The little boy wailed as he tried to drag his mother out of the mess of twisted steel and broken glass. "Mommy! Wake up, wake up!" Several strangers walked towards the little boy and unconscious mother. "Mommy!" A woman and a man he never seen before approached him. He cried and cried as the people try to pull him away. "No! Let go! She needs me! She needs me! Mommy!" His tiny hands outstretched in front of him grasping nothing but air. "Mommy!"Goku stood before Vegeta trembling ad he told his story. The one he dreaded to tell. The one he kept buried in a head of secrets. He could feel the sweat trickle down his face as he recalled every painful memory. Vegeta had already tried to stop him from telling the rest but it was too late now. Goku just spilled his heart out to the other teen. Tears trickled down his face as he recalled the last few moments with his mother.
Goku held on to.his mother's hand as they just left the arcade. He had spend the whole day with his mother. He was off from school and his brother and father were busy doing their own thing together. "Mommy, can we get something to eat?" Goku asked holding his stuffed animal close to his chest, "of course sweetie. How do burgers sound?" Gine offered. Goku nodded eagerly, "yeah! Let's get some for Daddy and Raditz!" Gine smiled kindly at her son. She carried her little boy to the SUV and placed him in the back in the car seat. Gine kissed her son's cheek earning giggles from Goku. "Can we play a game when we get home?"
"We'll have a family game night surprise." Gine said turning on the car. "We'll spend all night playing games together." Goku cheered clapping his hands happily. "Okay Mommy!"
The drive started out normal. Quiet music played through the radio. Goku talking about everything his little mind can think of. Gine happily listened as she drove to a popular near by burger joint. She suddenly gasped and the car screeched to halt.
"Kakarrot!"
Goku looked up at his mother confused. Before he could speak he felt his world begin to spin violently. The glass window shattered next to him. He yelped and covered his face glass piercing his skin. Adrenaline pumped through the boy's body. Numbing any real pain. All he could feel was fear.
The SUV flipped over several times. Before stopping in a water filled ditch. Ambulances and police cars came to the scene as soon as possible. They pulled out Goku who suffered a broken arm and several deep cuts. As for his mother she was unconscious and in critical condition. Both were immediately taken to the hopsital.
As Goku waited painfully. He kept asking for his family. It was until Bardock showed up along with Raditz. "D-Daddy!" Goku cried out his good arm outstretched. Bardock quickly rushed over to his son. "Where's Mommy? Is she gonna be okay?" Bardock cupped Goku's cheeks and nodded. "Y-yeah she's gonna be alright." He said softly holding his youngest close. It was later they learned that Gine wasn't alright. She was far from it. When the doctors broke the news to Bardock about her condition he broke down. Goku didn't understand what was happening. But when he saw his father break down like that he knew that nothing was going to be alright. He looked over his older brother who was also crying though he looked like he was holding back.
"R-Raditz? Is Mommy gonna come back home with us?"
The answer Goku got was what shattered the once happy boy.
"No... she's not coming back..."Goku was sobbing by the end of it all. He tried to wipe away the river of tears only for more to fall. "It was a drunk driver that hit us..." he whimpered. "This is why... why i hate getting into any vehicle... gods... Vegeta I... I..."
Vegeta only hugged his boyfriend. "It's going to be okay. You don't have to say anything else." Goku buried his face in the crook of Vegeta's neck. He cried softly holding on tight to the other teen. Afraid that of he'd let go he will lose the only stable thing in his life. They stayed like that in each other's arms in what felt like forever. Goku felt a weight lift off his chest after he told Vegeta everything."Vegeta?"
"Yeah?"
"Promise me you won't leave me... even... even if we break up."
"You're stupid to think I'd leave you."
"Promise?"
"I promise."
Vegeta brushed Goku's bangs away from his face smiling kindly. "How about we dry those tears, huh? Let's go out. Everything's on me okay? And... we can walk this time." Goku smiled back at Vegeta. "Yeah, sounds nice." Both teens began to head to downtown hand in hand.
Goku didn't return home for a while. It was late at night. He found his father passed out on the couch with and empty bottle of liquor in his hand. He frowned at the sight. The teen looked around for his brother. He found Raditz in his room looking over paper work, paying bills perhaps. Goku sighed once more before retiring into his own room. He gently shut the door and collapsed on his bed. He checked his phone to find one text message from Vegeta.
Vegeta: Goodnight <3
Goku smiled and responded with the same text. Maybe things won't be so bad anymore. Maybe it was time to move on.
