Nothing lasts.
Life is temporary.
As are emotions and thoughts, merely fleeting moments of the mind.
Even spells can only last for so long.
So did the curse afflicting Alysa.
As she laid limp in Jared's arms, the imaginary reality that Ben cast was fading away.
She slowly opened her eyes to find Rodney pacing the room and Jared holding onto her for dear life.
"Ja-Jared?" Alysa croaked in a voice husky from sleep.
"Al?!" Jared asked, pushing her away just barely far enough to see her face.
"Wha-what's going on?" She asked in confusion.
"You were thrashing all around and caused Mr. Lover Boy here to kick me in the -" Rodney froze when Jared seemingly glared through his soul.
"You were having a nightmare again." He said with a soft smile full of empathy.
"O-oh." Alysa said blushing and looking away.
Why is his smile so darn cute?
And why am I still having nightmares?
Her mind spiraled as she rubbed her temples trying to get the residual effects of the unknown ailment to go away.
"Come on Rod, let's all try to get some more sleep." Jared motioned Rodney over.
As they all repositioned and began to fall back into the warmth of sleep; there was a knock at the door.
Rodney groaned.
Jared cursed.
While Alysa remained silent.
She rose swiftly and opened the door.
"You are to come with us. Training is to commence." The guard commanded.
Alysa nodded while recommending Jared and Rodney get some more shut eye.
"Are you sure you'll be okay?" Jared asked, his eyes heavy with concern and lack of sleep.
"Of course." She smirked, ruffling his hair before pulling his face close to hers by his chin.
