"Now I get to introduce you to my home." Alysa said, her eyes glimmering as she pulled Jared up by the hand and Rodney followed behind.

"Wait, why are we heading into the forest?" Rodney said, his voice wavering.

Alysa paused, turning back to face him.

"Did I say give you a tour of the town? No. I said my home. This place is no longer my home but I did have -" She looked at Jared.

"A place I liked to think of as safe."

She turned back to the woods and began walking through the trees as if there were a hidden path only she could see.

The three came into a clearing just as the sun disappeared over the horizon.

As if by magic, fireflies appeared all around them.

The two boys stood awestruck gawking at the scenery.

The heavens glittered above in a swirling radiance delicately dancing since the dawn of time. The fallen whispers of the ancients spun around them in the mists of the night.

Alysa chuckled, leading her friends into the dark. Their jaws dropped when they saw their destination.

It was a beacon of light atop the trees, a shining splendor of hope and wonder.

"Hurry up slow pokes." Alysa shouted already among the higher branches climbing higher still.

"Uh uh, no way. You know I don't do heights man." Rodney said and was about to protest further when he saw Alysa lowering a harness.

"Then tell Jared to hurry so we call pull your fat arse up here." Alysa retorted, laughing at his pout in response.

Before long the three friends were exploring Alysa's hideaway.

"Welcome gents." Alysa said, opening a waist level door barring the entrance to her small universe.

The boys plopped down on two cushions looking up at the clearing to the sky seeing the galaxies that intertwined above them. Hanging from a mesh like ceiling were tiny jars of pure starlight that lit the room.

The walls had plants of all sorts, Jared wondered how they survived all this time when he noticed an intricate watering system rigged about the tiny home. He saw a lever Alysa stood next to with a menacing smirk and chuckled thinking of the unsuspecting Rodney.

He laid back down, awaiting the inevitable, looking back at the twilight when tiny droplets assaulted them from all directions soaking the trio.
