The guards dragged the unconscious Ben into the dungeon, locking him in a cell beside Jared's for safe keeping until his fate was decided.

Peering out through the small window, Jared watched attentively as Ben was thrown into the cell.

Ben?

How is Ben here?

He made it out alive?

Jared stepped back as the thoughts raced through his mind.

Why is Ben here?

If he did make it out of the village why come here?

Then his mind drifted to Alysa, recalling the way the guards took her away so quickly.

How long ago was that?

Was that Alysa I heard earlier?

Thinking of the sounds of her voice traveling down the hall to his cell.

His face contorted with worry as he sat down against the wall.

"What happens now?"

He asked aloud to the empty cell around him, his words sending a chill down his spine as his mind flooded with possibilities.

"You're what?" Rodney shouted at his father.

"They are witches, Rodney, what more could you expect?" He said calmly in return.

"Not a bloody execution that's for sure!" Rodney answered, his mind spinning.

"The town ... the town doesn't know you ordered their coven to be killed, can't we just let them go?" Rodney asked desperately.

"And have them come back with more of their kind? I don't think so, this is for the best." His father said, reasoning. "We caught one of them attempting some kind of spell, one that would surely cause harm to our people."

"As the future leader of this village you have to take this into account, you have to start thinking about the safety of your own." He said moving closer to Rodney.

"I don't want it." Rodney replied, stepping back.

"You don't mean that." His father said, freezing in his place.

"This is everything I worked for ... and my father and his father, Rodney, your place is here with this family and village." Mr. Daegon rambled, feeling his son pulling away.
