Chapter 19
The bell rang through the hallway and everyone began closing their lockers and going to their first period classes before the late bell could ring. I sighed and grabbed my period one and two notebooks before grabbing extra pen and shutting my locker and getting lost in my thoughts.
"And then you see this sticky note here? We move it to this side because she isn't dead. Makes sense right?"
Austin and I decided to head back to my place so he could pitch his idea to me. He had such high hopes of me agreeing to this that he had a white board in his trunk along with sticky notes, erasable markers, and sharpies. The man really had a plan.
At first, his ideas were completely out of this world and it seemed like he was holding onto whatever hope he had left. But now, after sitting here 4 coffee cups later with the sun shining into my living room, his ideas weren't so bad.
I took a step back, nearly falling over the empty coffee cups on the floor, and looked at the creation he had made.
A moment of silence passed over us as we stared at the board together.
"You're not completely crazy but I think if someone saw us together they'd call the nearest asylum." I stated to him.
He snorted at my comment and stood up, brushing off invisible dust on his shirt before grinning at me. "I told you this wasn't a waste of time." And indeed it wasn't.
I took a step closer to the board and went over it once more.

Where Hunter went
My left eyebrow twitched at the last sticky note on the board "Did you really have to put the last one?" Austin had been picking on me throughout the night about Hunter leaving without telling me his whereabouts.
"The whole town knows he disappeared on you. Nobody knows where he went but people are placing bets on where he might be." He said smugly.
I huffed and threw myself onto the couch, almost forgetting that I haven't gotten any sleep. I rubbed my tired eyes and looked back at him "First of all he did not "disappear" on me." I said in quotation marks, "And second he doesn't need to be on the board when we have more important things to do research on."
He immediately tore off the last sticky note, crumbled it up, and threw it into the pile of garbage near us. Austin sat down on the couch taking a big gulp from his coffee cup before looking back at the white board. We sat in silence before I decided I should speak up.
"I'm sorry for doubting you." I spoke quietly and softly. At first, I didn't understand what Austin was getting at by speaking to me about Laura's life. I thought he was just trying to make sense of what happened to his cousin and was grasping at anything he could. I didn't see what the point was in dragging this out.
