Birds are chirping, filling the quiet air with their perfect song singing. Today it's not as perfect as any other day. It's suffocating. It feels as if I'm being boxed in by their chirps and can't break free.

My leg bounces up and down in anticipation. I'm sitting on the front porch swing bundled in sweatpants, uggs, a turtle neck and big puffy jacket that's keeping me warm.

I sip my tea as I stare out onto the not so busy street. Adults are leaving, rushing to get into their cars to make it to work on time.

Anytime I hear the sound of a car or footsteps on the sidewalk I perk up and look into the street,  just to be disappointed again.

Hours had passed since Hunter left with the cops, along with Matt. I waited and waited for a call or an update but nothing happened. I hoped to at least see Matt come home but his driveway sat empty and his house was still.

Both Mikey and Luke were worried about me and stayed up for as long as they could. It wasn't until 3 am when I told them we should get some sleep and they had agreed.

But I stayed. I don't know how long I waited but I dozed off eventually, the tea getting colder and colder as time went on. I waited and waited, but he never showed.

I woke up to the sun shining down on my face and my body surrounded by my fluffy blanket. When did I get into my room? I sat up quickly and looked at my surroundings. On one of my fuzzy chairs sat Hunter who was fast asleep.

His hoodie was up and his head was slumped, looking quite uncomfortable yet peaceful at the same time. He was wearing a different set of clothes than the ones from the gym last night.

I myself was wearing the same turtleneck and sweatpants without the shoes and jacket on. I rubbed my eyes tiredly and looked at my phone.

"Holy moly it's 9:30!" I shrieked realizing I was late for school. My teachers will not appreciate my attendance this school year.

Hunter jumped at the sound of my voice and looked around frantically. I threw myself backwards onto my bed and covered my face.

"This can not be happening." I mumbled to nobody in particular. How could Mikey allow me to not go to school?

Mikey. He was so dead.

I grabbed my biggest pillow and marched out of my room with Hunter following closely. He had a look of concern but also seemed to be half asleep considering he almost fell out the chair when getting up.

"What's going on?" He asked almost tripping over his own two feet.

"The bastard didn't wake me up for school." I said making my way to my brothers room. I wiggled the doorknob but to no avail it was locked. Since when does he lock his door?

I went to bang on the door but Hunter quickly caught my fist. I attempted to break free of his hold but he seemed determined to stop me.

"What's your deal? Let me bang on the door." I said fighting him back. Hunter had tensed when he saw me putting up a fight.

He shook his head at me and grabbed my other hand that I was holding the pillow. He pushed me against the wall keeping me glued to one spot.

"Why are you acting so weird?" I asked him skeptically.

He looked at me with a blank stare, his face emotionless. His left eyebrow was raised causing me to raise mine. What's his deal?

"Your brother is clearly sleeping. I doubt he'd be happy waking up to you banging on the door like a maniac. Besides I um," he said scratching his head awkwardly, "I heard him up bright and early this morning doing something."
