I opened my eyes. My vision is a little blurry so I waited until my eyes adjusted to the brightness of the room. I'm just staring at the white ceiling. Where am I?

The scent of disinfectants attacked my nose. I looked around. The luxurious room made my brows furrowed. Why am I confined in this expensive private room?

Why am I at the hospital?

As if on cue, my brain recalled what happened before I passed out.

Oh right, the devil in disguise Michelle and her minions beat me up yesterday. I bit my lip, extremely annoyed at that two-faced snake.

I tried to move but the pain from my wounds made me hissed. The dextrose at the back of my hand also
made me cautious of my movements.

My fever's gone but I have a lot of bruises along with cuts that are covered with bandages. Mas lalo akong nairita nang makita kong meron din akong pasa sa mukha. Oh no, not my face.

"You're awake."

The door opened revealing someone never in my lifetime did I expected to see in this situation.

"Jane?"

Jane gave me a relieved smile. Her eyes were inspecting my condition cautiously. She entered the room carrying a bag full of fruits and snacks. I caught a glimpse outside the door and saw plenty of guards guarding the room.

"Why.. why are you here?" I asked her. What is going on?

She placed the bags on top of the table. I patiently waited for her reply. After arranging the food in the pantry, she made her way towards me and sat on the seat beside my bed.

"My cousin actually saw you. You were lying on the floor with bruises on you while coughing blood. We—we were so scared that something happened to you," She said, her eyes slightly wavering.

She held my hand. I flinched at the sudden physical contact.

"Are you feeling better?" She asked while looking at my eyes.

Tumango ako.

"Who did this to you?" I can barely hear her voice.

Why does she look concerned? Or does she pity me that much?

"Is this the first time it happened?"

"T-this is the first time.." At least from Michelle.

She squeezed my hand.

"If you want someone to talk to, you can contact me," Jane said while smiling at me softly.

Even if I badly wanted to befriend her, I'm afraid. What if she's also like the other people who would judge me or turn her back from me.

My mind trailed to Angela. She's a good friend but it took me this long to realized she doesn't deserve a friend like me.

"Did my family visit? And about my room..."

Jane shook her head. "Don't worry about your room. We already handled it. About your family, we contacted them yesterday, they said they will visit you tomorrow."

"Is it friday today?" I asked Jane.

"Yes," she answered while throwing me a questioning look.

Friday..

Today is Renren's family day.

Of course Renren is more important. I smiled at Jane. This girl who I barely know cares about me more than my family.

"Thank you for saving me," I uttered after a long silence.

She smiled at me adorably.

Jacob Cabrera entered the room. He sighed in relief when he saw me talking merrily with Jane.
