Steam pours out of the engine of the train, and I stare out at the crowd awaiting to get on the train. Students are hanging out of the windows, and I spot Maya waving to her parents.
I turn around and give my parents each a long hug, feeling my mum kiss the top of my head. My dad pats my back, and I smile up at him.
"Don't get into too much trouble with those friends of yours!" Dad states, and I chuckle. I grip on to my trunk and start walking towards the train.
"I love you Sofia!" I hear mum yell, and I turn around to wave at her.
I step on to the train, and the familiar smell of candy fills my lungs. I take a deep breath, and sigh. I can't wait to get back to Hogwarts.
Someone shoves my back, and I stumble over, catching myself before I take an embarrassing fall. I turn to look at who the person was that shoved me, and I see a familiar blonde head.
"Get out of the way White," Draco spits, stepping beside me to get to his compartment. I roll my eyes, and walk down the hall of the train.
I stand outside the familiar compartment I've known for years. I push the glass doors open to see Maya sitting on the bench, french braiding her long dark hair. She looks up at me, and pulls me into a bone crushing hug.
"Sofia!" Maya screeches, pulling away for a second to look at me.
"Oh my god Maya, we haven't seen each other in so long!" I exclaim, laughing as I sit down on the hard bench across her. I lift my trunk up to the overhead compartments, struggling to get it in.
"I know right! It feels like centuries," Maya laughs, oblivious to me struggling to even get the trunk off the ground.
"Let me help with that," a voice says, and a familiar ginger lifts the bag into the compartment and slams it closed.
Fred turns toward me, and as he looks at me his jaw drops. "Sofia?" he mutters, and I look around. Yep, I'm the only person here. Why is he so confused?
"...yes?" I reply, brushing a stray hair out of my face.
"Sorry," he laughs, falling into the seat next to me, "you look very different."
I guess I did change a lot over the summer. I cut bangs, dyed my hair lighter, got contacts, and changed up my style. I didn't know I was unrecognizable though.
George runs into the compartment, and bends over out of breath. He squeezes on to the seat beside his brother, pushing me into the wall.
"Way to ditch me Fred," George yells, once regaining his breath, "this fool left me running down the hallway after the candy trolley thinking he was right behind me. We were gonna swap out some candy for puking pastilles, our latest prototype."
"Sorry, I saw Sofia trying to get her trunk into the overhead storage, and even though it was very funny to watch I couldn't let her struggle." I roll my eyes at Fred, looking out the window trying to spot Jocelyn. She's never late like this.
Right before the train starts, Jocelyn enters the compartment, her curls bouncing as she sits down beside Maya.
"God the traffic in Doncaster is bad," she says, laughing as Maya wraps her in a hug.
"We were scared we were going to miss ya!" George laughs, and the train screeches as it starts moving along the track.
"Me too!" Jocelyn says, and the compartment erupts in laughter.
