Delilah and I rush into herbology, trying to get out of the cold weather. We're only a week into November, and it already is freezing.

The green house door blows open as we take our seats, and everyone sighs. It's a reoccurring issue in the winter that the door always blows open.

Professor Sprout groans, and walks over to the door to pull it shut again. A shiver goes down my spine at the chilly temperature, and I pull my sweater over my hands.

I peek over at Delilah next to me, who looks very ready for this class. She's always loved herbology, so I can understand her excitement.

The last couple students trickle in, and once everyone takes their seats, Professor Sprout starts to explain today's class, but she's interrupted by the door blowing open again.

"God, it's windy today. This is getting on my last nerve everyone, so for today I'll give you some time to work on the essay we started last class."

"Uh oh, I finished that over the weekend. I thought it was due today, not to do today!" Delilah whispers, and I laugh.

"Well at least you basically get a free period," I whisper back, pulling the essay out of my bag.

I start scribbling down the rough draft, thinking if I focus hard enough I can finish the draft and start on the final copy by the end of class.

"Can I sit over here with you guys" I hear a voice ask, and look up at Cedric speaking, "my friends won't give me a break about the Hufflepuff Slytherin quidditch match we lost and I can't focus."

"Of course," Delilah says, and goes back to reading her book.

I don't know very much about Cedric, all I really know is that he's been Delilahs crush since last year. He seems nice, and pretty down to earth.

"Woah, you're already done?" He whispers to Delilah, raising an eyebrow.

"Yeah, I thought it was due today," Delilah chuckles, running a hand through her hair, "I can help you out if you want."

He nods, and she leans over to him to help. I smile to myself, and go back to working on my essay.

Finally, after what felt like an eternity, I finish the essay. Well, at least the rough draft. I look up at the clock, and see it's only been thirty minutes. My head falls on the desk, shutting my eyes for a moment until I have to get back to work.

Reading my mind, Professor Sprout sighs, "Obviously, you guys are very tired today. It's a cold November monday. I get it, I'm tired too. So since I'm your head of house, you guys can go back to the common room and finish your work up there."

Everyone instantly stands up, and starts packing up their bags, as the room fills with chatter and a couple thank you's.

Delilah, Cedric and I start towards the castle, but the wind is very hard to walk with. Delilah trips over a root, and falls to the ground with a gasp.

"God this wind is horrible," She says, as Cedric gives her a hand to help her up.

"I know, it's cancelled tonight's quidditch game!" Cedric exclaims, and I laugh.

"Do you talk about anything other than quidditch?" I joke, and Cedric laughs.

"I talk about so much more than quidditch! How would you know, you've barely met me."

"Cedric, we've been in the same house for five years now, and all you've really talked to me about is quidditch. You're almost as bad as Oliver Wood!" I laugh. Everyone knows Oliver is insane about quidditch.

He laughs, and we finally make it inside the castle. I brush my frizzy hair out of my face, just knowing it got blown around from the wind.

Cedric looks, over at me, and starts laughing. My cheeks flush red, as I try to pat down my hair.

"There, you got it now," Delilah says, reaching over to help me fix it.

We walk into the hufflepuff common room with all the other kids in our class. I sit down on the couch beside Cedric and Delilah, as she goes back to helping him with the essay.

I copy down the essay onto a new piece of parchment, trying to write as neatly as possible. Every couple seconds, I dip the feather in ink, the little splash being the only noise other than Cedric and Delilahs whispering.

"Thanks for the help, you guys seem like better classmates than these doofs," He jokes, pointing to the group of guys sitting behind him barely doing any work.

"Anytime Cedric," Delilah says, a slight blush coming to her cheeks.

"Oh, you two can call me Ced. That's what all my friends call me."

He walks back over to his friends, and Delilah turns toward me. I open my mouth, about to start shouting, but she puts out her hand telling me not to.

"Later," Delilah whispers, laughing as she looks back down to her book. I go back to copying down my essay, smirking at the days events.

i LOVE this chapter! i think it was a good introduction to Cedrics role in their lives.
