Chapter 12: The Fifth Day

The scene changes to Roxas, falling through a bottomless pit of darkness, then him waking up sharply in his room. He sighs. "I'm dreaming... But which parts... Were the dream?" He asks himself.

~The Fifth Day~ 

The scene changes to the Usual Spot, Hayner, Pence and Olette are chatting. Olette walks over to Roxas and folds her arms, giving him a stern look. "Only three days left of summer vacation, so don't even mention that assignment!" Hayner refuses to comply with Olette.

"But we agree'd we'd get it finished today." Olette rebutts.

"Yesterday... I fell off the station tower, didn't I?" Roxas asks, completely out of subject.

"You wouldn't be here if you did!" Hayner replies.

"But man, that was a close one..." Pence adds.

"Stop changing the subject!" Olette shouts.

"Okay, already! You win, we'll do the homework. Stupid independent study. So, anybody got any bright ideas for a topic?" Hayner asks.

"Maybe we could study the stuff that's happening to me. You know, the dreams and the guys in white." Roxas suggests.

"Forget it." Hayner says.

"Why?" Roxas asks.

"You know, things have been weird with you AND the town since the photos were stolen, right?" Hayner says.

"Well, tomorrow, we're all gonna search the town and find out what's goin' on." Pence continues.

"Lot's of people are helping out." Olette adds.

"All that, for me? I'll go get some ice cream!" Roxas says happily running off to get them. Roxas returns and hands everyone the ice cream. "There's this strange rumor going around. Wanna hear it? You know the stone steps at Sunset Station? We use 'em all the time, without even thinking about it. But---and this is the weird part---the steps count different going up and down!" Pence says mysteriously.

"Seriously!?" Hayner replies. Pence nods.

"And there are six other weird stories like that. It's like... The seven wonders of Twilight Town." Pence says.

"We should investigate those for our school project! Pence, you're a genius!" Hayner exclaims excitedly. 

"There might be other rumors going around, too. Let's split up! I'm gonna look for the seven wonders..." Pence says.

"Olette and I will go find some new rumors! C'mon!" Hayner says, running off with Olette.

"That leaves you and me, Roxas. Let's try the train first. To the station!" Pence concludes, running off to the station with Roxas. They arrive at the station. "The time has come! Our hunt for the seven wonders begins!" Pence says mysteriously. Hayner and Olette arrive at the station to meet Roxas and Pence. "Woah, find new rumors already?" Pence asks. Olette shakes her head. "Nothing on Market Street." Olette says sadly. Hayner rubs his nose and puts a hand on his hip. "You twerps aren't gonna scoop us. We're going to the terrace with you." Hayner says smugly. "Hayner, it's not a race!" Olette shouts.
