i look at my phone annoyed. who does he think he is? coming along telling me he loves me at a stupid time in the morning and pretending he wants to help. what was meant to happen if he wasn't going to tell me who he was? what did he expect?

i throw it down on the bed i leave my room slamming the door and walk down stairs to see matt on the settee.

"i'm not fixing that door again ella" matt warns as i slump next to him on the settee muttering a sorry. i look and see luke sat in the corner. he looks different, kind of sad. bags under his eyes and hair messy. i hadn't really seen him since i had been home, mainly because i hadn't been home, i'd caught up with dad and been with sarah most of the time, when she wasn't with matt.

"you look how i feel" i tell him and he just gives me a small smile.

"right you both look shit what's going on" matt announces standing up looking between us suspiciously and i just frown at him "come on, somethings clearly happened so out with it"

"dude this has nothing to do with luke i just hate boys" i tell him, a look of relief washes his face.

"then we're all going out, you guys are really bringing the christmas vibe down"

"you can piss off i don't plan on moving til i go back to uni" i tell him putting my feet where he was sat grabbing the remote. he removes it from my hands as pulls me up.

"ring sarah we're going out" he tells me.

"she's your girlfriend you ring her" i raise an eyebrow at him and he freezes, i use this as the perfect time to snatch the remote back.

"this looks like a twin thing so i'm going to go eat all your food" luke says standing up and walking out. matt turns to look at me, the guilt in his eyes obvious.

"you lied to me" i tell him.

"i didn't lie ella" he retorts.

"you weren't honest"

"it just happened" he shrugs.

"she told me, from the start and you didn't matt. that's shitty" i frown at him.

"i'm sorry"

"you can't put a fucking ban on your friends and get with mine matthew" i snap at him.

"this is about luke?" he asks his eyes wide. i scowl and shut the door hoping he doesn't hear.

"this isn't about luke. it's double standards"

"it's different i know my friends, they'd break your heart i know they would, one already did" he tells me, his voice soft.

"and i know you, you could break my friends hearts but i trust you not to with sarah. you don't get to tell me what i can and can't do anymore, i'm 23" i turn around opening the door.

"i'm going out, don't ring me" i shout walking out of the front door slamming it behind me and storm to my car.

i arrive at sarah's house and beep. a few seconds later she appears and i get out of the car. she hands me a board and we make our way down town. the sun is setting as we arrive at the beach. we sit on the sand and i immediately feel relaxed, i feel sarah's head rest on my shoulder and i rest my head on top of hers, our arms linked as we listen to sound of the waves.

sarah and matt being together isn't an issue for me. as long as i'm not put in the middle of it which she reassured me numerous times that i won't be. i've never had that issue but when it comes to him but he's always been adamant his friends are a no go zone. especially after alex.
