A Chance To Talk

Seungjin went to the kitchen after getting ready for the day. At first, he was surprised about Eunha not being there like she usually was. Then, he saw a paper on the dining table, that read "Hi, Seungjin. I'm going out to talk to Suhan, we might be out the entire day. Sorry that I couldn't prepare breakfast for you. Also! Remind me to assure Mom that the Dongchan that's mentioned in my journal isn't the dude that she told as about that spread weird rumors about her in 5th grade, or the weird guy at the convenience store that Grandma always talks to!"

"Woah," Seungjin gasped. "She could have texted me that in KakaoTalk. But, that's just mean, that she doesn't call me Big Brother. I should prove myself worthy of being one. Oh, yeah, I gotta go to piano class later. I should probably practice." He went back upstairs and practiced a piano piece.

On Eunha's side, she was with Suhan around the district to go to a cafe. The trending "indie idol" named Jelly was having a street performance with a new song that suddenly got viral on a video sharing app. Because of all the cheering, the two could only hear, "Midam Jung! We! Love! You! Jelly!" rather than the song's lyrics.

For Eunha, the song got stuck in her head, and frankly, she could follow along the song with the fanchant. The song went a little like, "I'm loving you in the moment, I don't need memories, for no matter how much I go away, I'll still love you just the same!!" The two ended up being there for the rest of the small concert, and they finally went to the cafe.

"So... do you have any plans today?" Suhan asked. "Cause I was wondering if you wanted to come over and visit my place."

"I mean, yeah, I could come over," Eunha nodded. "I have nothing to do since Seungjin has piano class later. Atleast we'll have more privacy there, I don't really want to talk about yesterday in public."

From that area, they walked over to his house, and they came across Minju. Wanting to tell her about what happened, Eunha impulsively went over to her. "Hi, Minju! I want to tell you all about what happened yesterday!"

Minju, who was taken aback by Eunha's sudden appearance, as Minju planned on making her go missing, just smiled at her and decided to respond to her, even with her opinions of her. Putting on her good girl face, she replied, "You found that creature in the mountains?"

"Yep!" Eunha nodded. "I'm always glad to help you with these creatures, you know!"

Suhan was curious about something. "Minju Jang... why are you always the one that sends Eunha out on these missions?"

She, who didn't want to be stuck at a dead end, just laughed it off. "Well, she's the one with all the powers... and stuff... right? So what if I'm the one always sending her to do these things? It's just what the strong must do, right?"

"What if she got hurt?" Suhan got annoyed with her. "Just because you think she's strong doesn't mean she doesn't get hurt."

"What do you have to do with this problem?" Minju got more defensive. "You think she'll like you because of this? You're so weird, Suhan. Why are you protecting her all the time? Just give it up, she's a monster. Think about yourself for once."

"Hmm, let's go, Eunha!" Suhan took her by the hand. "We don't have any more time to waste."

Eunha waved goodbye to Minju. "See you at school on Monday, Minju!"

"Are you not mad at all?" he asked, confused as to why Eunha was still being nice to Minju. "She talked about you like that."

"Well, she didn't lie," Eunha shrugged. "Either way, I shouldn't be worried about it. I won't hurt her, even if she says mean things about me, or else I would get in big trouble. That's not really my way."

The two got to Suhan's building, and they walked up the stairs. "So, welcome to my building... We live all the way on the fourth floor."

Opening the door, they immediately saw Suhan's mother eating. "Oh, hi, kid. Who's she?"

"This is Eunha Lee, she's from my school," he introduced her to his mother. "I asked her to help me on English homework."

"Yeah, that's what you say everytime," his mother swallowed her food. "Last time, there was that one kid at our old house, you said you needed help with school, but you played video games instead."

"Really, Mom, she'll help me with English homework," Suhan said.

His mother was already going out. "Alright, Suhan, be safe, I'm going out to meet with one of the aunties near the store." The door closed, and they stayed silent for a moment.

"Okay, Mom, bye!" Suhan yelled out. "Yeah, no distractions. I can't have Mom knowing I have a vampire over at our house. She'd freak out."

Going into his room, he pulled out his English homework for in case his mother came back, and they started their discussion about Eunha's backstory. She started first, "So, my dad's pretty much the king of them, and my mom... Dunno what she did to make him fall in love with her, but they eventually had my brother... and then me."

"So, you're a princess, basically?" Suhan asked. "That's pretty cool."

"Yeah..." Eunha shuddered. "I don't know why they're coming for me now, but I feel like... something big might happen soon, and it's not looking very good. Like, why are they coming for me now? And what will happen in the future? What if they try to hurt you? You were the one that literally killed Herring."

"You ask too much questions," Suhan laughed. "When that time approaches, I think you'll be able to handle anything that comes your way, you know?"

"I'm not very deserving of having such a huge power," Eunha sighed. "I'm scared of how I'll handle it, I'm clueless about everything."

"Have more confidence," Suhan smiled at her.

And since she went out of his home, that was all she was thinking about. In addition, Eunha kept on having vampire tendencies after sundown, so when Seungjin went home and heard the faint drumming noise that Eunha made to distract herself, he was quite surprised.

"Eunha, are you alright?" Seungjin suddenly went into Eunha's room.

At that moment, Eunha started sobbing. "Seungjin, I'm scared. I awakened yesterday."

"Huh?" Seungjin gasped.
