Chapter Twelve

Piper's Pov
Tucking my hair behind my ears. I looked away for a small moment listening to the beat of the heart monitor over and over. Her heartbeat was very steady, but that wasn't gonna stop me from knowing this was all my damn fault.

I crossed my leg over the other heaving a sigh out I leaned back into the chair shutting my eyes for a moment pretending to be asleep when I heard Bella's mom Rene entering the room.

I had met her briefly when she first arrived at the hospital frantic and the news of Bella's many injuries, she was a little judgment of mine and Bella's relationship when I told her I was Bella girlfriend.

I snuggled into my hoodie a bit when I heard Bella stirring awake. I let out these small fake snores while I sat still hearing Bella whispering out quietly.

"Mom?... Where's Piper?" I heard her shifting around a lot. I heard Rene whispering quietly.

"She's sleeping... She hasn't left your side." My head tilted a bit faking my breathing a bit.

"What happened?" Bella questioned more.

"Oh, honey... You and Alice were doing some practice for the dance... Honey, you fell down a flight of two-story stairs, honey you fell through a window."

I wanted to wince remembering all her injuries, the feeling of her blood through my clothes and on my skin. "Where's dad... I need to talk to him, I need to apologize." Bella kept rushing out her words.

"Alright honey I'll go talk to him he's down in the cafeteria, but honey you are gonna love Jacksonville it's got lost of sun and everything you'll have your own room." I frowned a little shifting around a bit.

"What... No mom I wanna stay here in Forks." I could hear Rene was holding her breath a little before she placed a kiss on her forehead.

"I'll think about it, honey." I heard her getting up once I heard the clicking of the door, I slowly snapped my eyes open and sat up a little seeing Bella looking at me shifting around stammering out.

"W-what happened where's James?" She questioned out deeply. I cleared my throat a little standing up placing my hands in my back pockets holding them there.

"We took care of him." I took a couple of steps towards her before sitting on the side of her bed.

"And the one named Victoria she ran off." I sighed out. Bella stared at me when more before she likes to the side for a moment.

"I'm alive because of you." She finally said out. I found myself scoffing quietly shaking my head a couple times.

"Bella you are in here because of me, I told you my kind was dangerous, I told you I was dangerous," I muttered out to her fast.

"I was part of the reason, I thought I wasn't gonna be able to stop." I trailed off a little feeling my long hair get in my way more.

"But you did stop." Bella continued looking at me with deep soft eyes.

"Bella you gotta go to Jacksonville." I finally told her softly. She stared at me with this look of complete betrayal and just hurt in her brown eyes.

"I can't hurt you anymore." I finished out keeping my eyes on her.

"What? No no, I don't even know what you are saying what are you talking about, you want me to go away? I can't just leave you." She was stammering a lot and she sounded really hurt.

"I know, I know," I told her knowing I couldn't even be without her for a few moments.

"We can't be apart, you can't leave me." She said sounding like she was almost gonna cry.
