Chapter 7
A few weeks after that night, Emily was not feeling like herself; she was eating a lot and was throwing up every morning. Mike also noticed her mood swings which were some days violent. “Emily?” He finally said “are you doing okay?” Emily looked over at her husband “No, I feel terrible, I’ve been having mood swings, I’ve been throwing up and I feel fat” Mike finally figured it out, “hang on” he said as he went to the cupboard and grabbed a pregnancy test “take this” he hands it to her. Emily’s eyes finally went into realization she grabbed the test and hurried into the bathroom. Mike followed her.
When Emily returns from the bathroom she sits on the bed next to her husband and holds his hand tight. “I'm anxious about what it will say” Mike nods at her and he feels the same way. So many questions went through their minds, what if it didn't work what if that work they did was for nothing. When time passed Emily went into the bathroom with the test in her hand. “What does it say?” Mike asked, Emily sat on the bed next to him and closed her eyes “I don’t know, you tell me” Emily hands it over to him. Mike took a look at the piece of plastic and suddenly his face went from worried to being very happy and excited. He nudged Emily to take a look “Em, you're not going to believe this” he hands the test back to her, Emily takes a look at it and she was suddenly happy the word that they hoped for their whole lives finally came true! Emily hugged Mike “we did it Mikey!” Mike hugged his wife back, he felt very happy that she was finally carrying his child. “We should tell the others!” Emily said, Mike then felt crushed “We should wait to tell the others” “What do you mean Mike?” “I mean, we should wait until we know the child is healthy and thriving, we don’t want anything bad to happen.” Emily finally thought about it “I’m sure nothing will horrible will happen” “I feel the same way Em, but what if you had a miscarriage?” That word, Emily never thought of losing her first child like that, she finally shook her head “No need for dramatic measures” she said. Mike finally felt happy again knowing that his wife is a fighter and will do anything to protect their child.
