I've watched my younger brother grow up since he was a baby. He's not really my brother but when I was 4, I looked outside the window to find him and a few others. A man with a long white beard told me to talk care of him and not to tell anyone about them. They told me he and I would be important people in their worlds. After they left I took my baby brother to my parents and we took care of him. Now it's finally time to tell him the truth.
"Harry"
"Yes Alexis"
"Come here please, I need help with something"
He walks into my room and I smile at him. I pat the side of the bed and he comes over to sit down.
"What's wrong"
"Nothings wrong Harry I want to tell you something."
"Ok then"
"Harry I know that my parents and my brother don't treat you well but I love you."
"Alexis I love you too"
He gently side hugs me and I smile. I make him look at me and he smiles back.
"How about you go get dressed and then we can hang out at the zoo. I know you feel like an outsider now but I love you and I will always be here for you."
We get dressed and my awful parents make him cook, after we had breakfast everyone got ready to leave. I was behind Harry and my father while the others were in the car.
"I'm warning you now, boy. Any funny business, any at all, and you won't have any meals for a week."
I step between them and I look at my father, I hold up my hand.
"Father stop, nothing will happen. I'll keep after him, just you and the family have fun."
"Fine, get in"
Harry and I get into the van and I grab his hand. We finally make it to the zoo and we eventually walk over to the snakes.
"Make it move"
My father tapped on the glass a bit, my brother started to beat on the glass and nothing happen.
"This is boring"
They family walks off so it's just me and Harry. I turn to him and smile.
"Harry, do you want to know something"
"Yes"
"Well then, do you know the snake mark I have on my neck."
"Yes it's gotten darker"
"It's a special Mark that was given to me."
"What"
"Yes, grab my hand"
He slowly grabs my hand and we watch the snake.
"Talk to him Harry"
He looks at me then back at the snake. He leans closer to the enclosure.
"Sorry about him. He doesn't understand what it's like, lying there day after day, having people press their ugly faces in on you."
The snake looks up and blinks. Harry moved back a bit and I just smile down at him.
"Can you...hear me?"
The snake nods, the snake looks over at me and I nod. My brother continues the conversation.
"It's just...I've never talked to a snake before. Do you...I mean...do you talk to people often?"
The snake shakes its head no. My brother turns to me.
