It had been a month since Emily came back home from the hospital, it had been a month since she had ran into the house engulfed in flames. Her recovery wasn't necessarily a hard one, her pain levels were low and her burns were healing nicely. The one part of her recovery that was hard for her was being apart from the woman she had fallen so hard for. She begged JJ to stay home from work every day even though she knew that JJ had to go. It was hard for Jennifer to be away from Emily even though she knew the brunette was all healed, she still secretly hoped that she was needed just as much. During the time that JJ had been living with Emily, the two got to things and sides of each other they hadn't realized were there. Emily learned that JJ was a bed hog and that she was deathly afraid of spiders, the blonde would be on the brink of tears anytime there was one around which is why she would call Emily over every single time to kill it. JJ learned that Emily would occasionally wake up in the middle of the night with a leg cramp which made her yell and swear like a sailor, but the thing that she had began to notice the most were Emily's eyes. She absolutely adored how every emotion that Emily felt seemed to be conveyed in her earthy hued eyes, but the look that killed her the most was when Emily would try and convince her to do something and would give her the puppy dog eyes. JJ knew she had fallen hard and she knew Emily felt the same way because she reminded the blonde every second she could.

Emily's eyes fluttered open as she gazed out the window that was allowing the early morning sunlight in, she looked at the clock and groaned lightly before sitting up and rubbing her eyes. She was supposed to go back to work today but was having a little trouble getting back into the routine she had been all too familiar with. She glanced over at JJ who was still sleeping and smiled softly before getting up and heading to the shower. By the time she had made it into the shower, JJ had woken up and wasn't far behind. This was a routine they now shared, one of them would get up to shower and the other wouldn't be too far behind. Emily shuddered slightly as she felt JJ wrap her arms around her and lean her head against her shoulder. The brunette hummed softly and washed her body as well as JJ's. The blonde still was not fully awake but mumbled a few thanks and 'I love you's, it wasn't long before the both got out and got ready for the work day ahead of them. Emily wanted to dress nice for her first day back so she chose charcoal gray pants with a white button up and boots, and JJ chose some black jeans with a blue button up that belonged to Emily. As JJ did fixed some coffee Emily walked into the kitchen and hopped up onto the counter, "Hey Jen..can I ask you something?" JJ turned around and smiled with a nod "Of course Em, what's up?" Emily shifted slightly before jumping down and taking the blonde's small hands into her larger ones, the heat from Emily's hands warmed JJ up as it always did. "JJ would you go on a date with me?" JJ laughed and nodded "Duh loser I would love to go, why are you acting so nervous about it? We have literally been living together for about a month. We have seen each other naked, we've kissed and we've said that we love each other." Emily fidgeted with her hands as she looked down then back up with rosy cheeks, "I..I know that Jen but..." She paused before looking into JJ's spring sky colored eyes and kissing her hands gently. "But I want to start things off right with you. I want to start by asking you on a proper date you know? Dinner and a walk or something like that." JJ's heart surged with pure adoration for the dark haired woman in front of her, she wrapped her arms around Emily and pulled her into a tight hug before nodding. "Em, I would love to go on a date with you. In fact, nothing would make me happier than to be able to call myself your date." Emily grinned which caused the crow's feet to come out by her eyes, "sweet, It's a date then. Tonight after work?" JJ bit her lip and nodded "I will be looking forward to it."

Emily and JJ walked into the BAU with their steps in perfect synchronization, their steps echoing around the halls. The first person to see the pair was Penelope, she squealed and ran up to Emily and gave her a tight hug. "Oh Emily!!! It is so so good to see you! You look vibrant today!" Emily just laughed and hugged her friend back tightly, "I missed you too Pen, you look pretty damn good yourself." The three girls talked for a bit longer before being joined by the rest of the team, they were all excited to see Emily back. Hotch welcomed her back before motioning for her to follow him to his office. She knew she'd get a stern talking to for her reckless actions but she prayed to God that she didn't get reprimanded for it. Hotch closed the doors behind her and sat in his chair. "Prentiss It's good to have you back however, we need to talk about the incident." Emily nodded and sighed "I know sir, I know what I did was reckless and against orders but I just couldn't risk that little boy getting hurt. I-" She was cut off by Hotch holding his hand up as a way to stop her rambling. "Emily listen to me, I don't like that you risked your life like that after I specifically gave you orders however, you saved his life and so I cannot fault you for that but I need to know you aren't going to pull anymore stunts like that." Emily nodded and scooted forward ever so slightly "Sir I promise I won't." Hotch shook his head "You and I both know you can't promise me that which brings me into the next thing I wanted to talk to you about. I know you and JJ have gotten closer and I am very happy for you two, but your relationship cannot change the way you do your job. Do you understand? If it does I will be forced to send one of you to another unit and I don't want to have to do that." Emily looked at her hands before looking back up "Yes sir. I understand." Hotch nodded and grabbed a file from a stack and opened it, "Good, you are both very important assets to this team. You can go now, you have a lot of paperwork to catch up on. Even though you were cleared, I want you on office work for a while." Emily nodded and stood and made her way to the door, "Oh and Prentiss, one last thing." She turned to face her boss withher brows furrowed, Hotch gave a small smile "Welcome home." Emily smiled and exited the office.
