In Another Life

"Mommy can you read me a bed time story?"

I smiled at my daughter and gently pinched her fluffy cheeks while she looked at me lovingly. She have this pair of deep blue eyes that reminds me of her father and the bitterness of every waves in the ocean in that very night.

"Once upon a time, there was a very beautiful maiden--"

"Uhm, mommy? I want a sad ending. I want to hear the saddest story you could tell."-i was taken a back after hearing my daughter. A sad ending? I give her a puzzled look but she seems to be serious.

" Are you sure of that sweetie?" - my daughter just replied with her small nod. I heaved a deep sigh and gently stroke her hair.

" Once upon a time, there was a very beautiful maiden living her whole life in a small and isolated island in the middle of the sea. She was alone and was so far from the town.  She was known to possess the beauty that was equal into a goddess of beauty herself.

Legend says that the goddess condemned the said maiden to stay hidden in order to not rival the beauty of the goddess. She was being locked in that secluded place and only one person knew that she was there, her mother. The mother only visited her once in a week to give all the necessities that she needed.

Saturday morning while the maiden was waiting for her mother's arrival, she heard a strange noise coming from the ocean. Curious and unafraid, she went straight into the water and didn't stop until it reaches her waist. Not far from where she is, a struggling magnificent blue tail caught her eyes. The strange noise was coming out from a stranded male mermaid!

She was shocked to see a mermaid in this part of the ocean for all she know is that this place was forbidden to enter by any kinds of elemental species. Even her mother ( an earth fairy) can't come straight in this place without the consent of the Goddess.

She went closer into the mermaid to help him release himself from being stranded in the big and firm coral reefs. She lifted the heavy corals with her ability and the male mermaid was being freed. But eventually the mermaid lost his consciousness because of too much blood loss that made the maiden nervous and panicked.

She didn't hesitate to drag him into her small hut. Soon after the mermaid reach out the hot and soft sand, his tail automatically became a pair of long and tanned legs and a pair of beautiful feet and has a big and long--- she just shrugged the thought of the last view and started dragging him again. (nasa isip nyo?😹)

All day she took care of the man while waiting for her mother but the sun already set, still there's no any sign of her.  All the time being she just stared at the handsome and perfect face of the man.

Every inch of his face was undoubtedly splendid, from his thick brown eye brows, perfectly shaped pointed nose, thin irresistibly kissable lips, sharp jaw and his deep blue tantalising eyes. He can be as gorgeous as a living God.

Days passed until the man woke up from his deep slumber. He was dizzy at first but still managed to stand up and saw the maiden who took care of him. He was amazed by her as if this was his first time to see such a unique beauty. The man couldn't admit to himself that he was being whipped by the maiden, its not his nature to admire someone's physical looks but this is different. He couldn't take off his eyes from her.

"B-binibini.... Maari mo bang sabihin kung nasaang parted na ako ng karagatan? At-- at ikaw ba ang nag-alaga sa akin buhat nang ako'y mawalan ng ulirat?"

" Ako nga ginoo, at ika'y nasa parte ng karagatan na kung saan ay ipinagbabawal na pasukin ng kung sino mang nilalang. Ngunit nakapagtatakang iyong natunton at napasok. Sabihin mo ginoo, paano ka nakarating sa lugar na ito?"
