"I'm not sure."



He let go of me. I could see his eyes full of questions but he chose to stay quiet.



"What makes you feel unsure?" Tanong niya as I stare at his eyes.



"You see," I tried finding words to say pero nagsisiunahan na lumabas.



"Goodnight." He pat me on the head. "Let's not rush things."



I smiled at him, but feeling remorse. He went back to his car and I went inside. I could've at least said something. Sana makatulog siya, not thinking about kanina.

  

I layed down on my bed, feeling remorse. I could've said it. No. I don't wanna blame myself. It's not something I should focus on. I headed to my table and opened my laptop. My head was empty and kept repeating the scene earlier. I starred at the teddy bear he gave.

   

Incoming call, Jhaycent.



"Hello?" I waited for his response. Air rushed out of my lungs as he stayed quiet.

    

[I told you,] he chuckled as he noticed how strong the silence was [wag mo masyado iniisip. I know you're new to this.]



I let out a heavy sighed. "Di ako-" I stopped. I barely knew what to say. "I'm studying. Get a life."



Tumawa siya sa kabilang linya. I just notice how his voice was more softer when talking to me. Narinig ko siyang ngumunguya.



"You're eating?" I sarcastically complained.



[It's yummy.] We both laughed at himself. [Good luck sa practice match nga pala.]



"Thanks." I smiled. "I can't stop thinking about you."



I got silent as I notice what've said. I flickered unconsciously. My face started to heat up and tried to find words. I faked cough.



[.. What?] He murmured.



"I said, I can't stop thinking about it." I waited for him to respond.



"Dream on."

[I dream of you.] He said, unaware.

"Repeat that again?" I bit my lips, trying not to smile. Hinintay ko siya magsalita pero naramdaman ko na tinarayan niya lang ako.



[Fan behaviour, I could never.]



"Saan mo na naman natutunan yun?" I asked.



[One of your friends.] He chuckled.



That stupid laugh again. I starred at my laptop as his face popped on my mind. "Yeah, right."



[What're you doing?] He asked out of the blue. I could hear him tossing a ball up and down, could be him laying down.



You sent a photo. I pictured my plates and a small peek of myself from the webcam of my laptop.



[Retake this again,] he ordered [but make it your face only.]



"No, why would do that?" I chuckled.



[Cause I want to see you.]



My heart skipped a beat when he said he wanted to see me. I was thinking of doing it but it's like I'm really giving in to us. I don't want him to think that, do I?



"Kakakita mo lang sa'kin kanina." I pursed my lips as I shifted on my seat.

     

[Well it's different earlier.] He excused. [I'm the only one that can see you now.]



"Oh stop with your lame excuses already." I ended the call. I couldn't handle myself as he chuckled softly again.



Jhaycent sent a photo. I opened my Instagram on the laptop. It was him on his bed. He barely took a picture of himself, only showing his special features. His jawline, lips and neck. It was blurry enough to see.



I bit my lips when my eyes glanced at his lips. How soft it looks. I looked away. He really knows how to turn me on.



jhaycent: I sent one. Now pay back atleast.



You look-. I deleted my paragraph. I put my knees up on the chair and hugged it while starring at my laptop. I look like a mess. Maddie, ngayong gabi lang yan.



_madzie: Sabihin mo muna sinabi mo kanina.



jhaycent: What?



_madzie: You know what I'm talking about, prince charming.



I teased him about sending a voicemail. Di ko naman inexpect na he would really send one. Now I'm just gonna lose myself again. Luckily, he only said the word 'hatdog'.



_madzie: Childish.



jhaycent: It's funny, LAMAWW.



_madzie: Do it or I won't send.



jhaycent: n00ds? ',;)



I was about to go to bed kasi nawala na ko sa mood. He actually started typing, syempre, hinintay ko naman.



jhaycent: I want you to want me.



Then he unsent it. I knew sinadya niya 'yon.



_madzie: That's not what you said.



jhaycent: I know, but it's what I feel.



My heart didn't know what to do. It skipped a beat and rapidly started beating again. I went straight to bed without responding. Binaon ko mukha ko sa unan. I couldn't scream, instead, I started looking like a kamatis na pwedeng pangsahog.



You don't feel right, JC.

"Valdez!" Sigaw ng madla from afar.



Kasama ko ang mga ka-teammates ko para sa laban. Habang palapit kami ng palapit sa court ay palakas ng palakas ang hiyaw. 

 

"Ingay naman," reklamo ni Ry. "Torotot kayo sis?"

 

"Not you starting to 'lait' people pero kanina sabi mo hindi ka judgy," singgit ng best friend ni Ry, si Haji.

  

Tinawanan naman namin siya. She really has a "pasmadong bibig."

  

Nakita ko ang mga taong naghihintay samin nang makarating kami sa loob. I felt nervous and hyped at the same time.

| San ka? Meet me sa babang cr. |

To: Erika
| Ayoko. Bye. |

| Sige. Nasa'kin lang naman yung LAPTOP mo, yung EXTRA TSHIRT MO, pati narin yung LOVE LETTER mo na napasa mo sa'kin from grade one. |

  

The audacity.



To: Erika
| Awts shore. |

 

I excuse myself to the team before doing warmups to meet up with Erika. Ano na naman kailangan nitong bruhilda na 'to.

  

"Ano ba 'yun?"

  

I saw her hiding something from behind. Trinay ko i-reach yung nasa likod niya pero bigla akong umatras nang muntikan niya ituloy ang sampal niya galing Batanes.



"Talikod." She commanded.



"Did you really called me here para pagtripan ako?"



She just shook her head and waited me to turn around. "Sumunod ka nalang, pota."



"Awts sure." Tumalikod naman na ko dahil mastatagal lang kami duon.



She placed something on my neck.



"This is what I gave-"



"What JC gave you." She corrected.



"No it's not!" I denied. Pano niya nalaman?



Tinawanan niya lang ako. "You're such a bad liar."



"I'm not lying," pilit ko "I swear."



"For sure."



Umiling-iling ako but she just tapped me on the shoulders and wish me good luck.



"Madzey, bilisan mo aba."



We started practicing spikes and recieves here and there. I looked around the court, full of people cheering us.



"Sino kaya hinahanap nito?" Valerie, one of my teammates, joked.



"Wala." I shrugged.



"Kala ko yung isang captain." She giggled. "Nice necklace cap, parang kanina wala yan sa leeg mo ah."



Umiling nalang ako. I looked at the necklace that was around my neck. Do I really want this?



I kept looking at the crowd while getting in line and shake hands with the opposite's team captain. Who? You're in my mind again. The team goes in position. Pumunta na ko sa harap ng net, still searching for someone.



"Service!"



The ball got toss to the other side. I couldn't focus properly. Stop messing around with me.



"Go Maddie!" Someone shouted from the distance.



Hinanap ko yung boses na yun. It stand out of the crowd more than it should be.



Di ko alam kung saan magfofocus. I ignored it for a second and jumped high to block the spike. The ball went in.



"Let's go, Dela Cruz!"



A few passes and scores were made. I ease myself and got rid of what was bugging me earlier.



"Time out muna." Our coach called.

Bumalik ako sa pagiinom ng tubig. My eyes glanced at the necklace again. I thought that that was the thing that kept bugging me. Tinanggal ko siya at napabuntonghininga.



"Get back out there and do your best, ladies."



Naghanda na kami para sa next set. My phone buzzed last minute.

My heart felt like it skipped a beat. I bit my lip as I opened it.
