The next day at work, Jungkook stood in his manager's office with a grim expression on his face. He was certain he was going to be fired as the CEO stood up from a chair in front of his manager's desk. He closed his eyes tight as the CEO opened his mouth to speak. "I fired Mrs. Park today, Mr. Jeon," the CEO spoke, surprising Jungkook. He was certain that men always got the short end of the stick when it came to accusations of sexual assault, whether it was true or false.
"Wh- what? Why? Y- You believed me?" Jungkook asked questions rapid-fire, stunned that they'd believed him instead of her. The CEO crossed his arms over his chest and smiled softly at Jungkook's confusion and surprise. "You have good friends," the CEO spoke up, smiling softly. "They attested to your character and when we did look back over the video feed, we could tell that she was in control of the entire situation," the CEO explained, leaning back on his subordinate's desk.
Jungkook felt tears build up in his eyes at the CEO's words, thankful for his friends. He needed to not only thank them but the lord for introducing them into his life as well. He wiped his eyes as tears slowly dripped off his lashes onto his cheeks, his soft laughter through his tears filling the office. They were tears of relief and happiness as he bowed to the CEO of his company. Jungkook had never thought the CEO was nice or polite before, but this certainly changed his opinion of him.
"You should definitely thank Taehyung too," the CEO smiled fondly as he ruffled Jungkook's raven locks. Jungkook looked up in surprise, his doe eyes wide at the mention of Taehyung's name. "Wh- What makes you say that?" Jungkook asked softly, confused as to why the CEO would bring Taehyung up so suddenly. He was convinced that the CEO wouldn't bring up someone who had just randomly quit on them.
The CEO's fond smile didn't sit well with Jungkook as he continued speaking. "He was the one who implored I ensure that you are treated fairly in this situation. He even made a promise he'd come back to work with us to ensure you weren't fired without justification," the CEO stated as Jungkook's heart sank at those words. While he was especially grateful for Taehyung's help, he knew the elder wanted to travel, and to sacrifice his freedom for Jungkook's job security made him feel miserable.
He wanted Taehyung to be able to continue living the life he wanted and travel wherever he wanted. He didn't want Taehyung to feel like he had to return to this dreadful place or that he had to quit his travel early. "And as long as he upholds his end of the deal, your job will always remain safe because he asked for it," the CEO verified Jungkook's worse fears. The CEO was an appalling man that was going to use Jungkook's job security as blackmail against Taehyung so that he would have to return.
Jungkook hung his head at the CEO's words, folding his hands behind his back. He was pondering on why the CEO wanted Taehyung back so fervently. Taehyung was just another employee, wasn't he? Or did the CEO have some sort of relationship with Taehyung? Jungkook had been thinking to himself hard, but the more he questioned himself about the situation, the more cultivated his envy amassed.
The CEO was boisterously talking to the manager about how Taehyung was going to be his when he returned. That he'd been waiting a long time to date Taehyung, but the younger male was always playing hard to get. He talked about how he'd bought things for Taehyung and spoiled him, even when he hadn't asked for it. Jungkook watched as his own manager rolled his eyes at the CEO's bold statements. "You do know he wouldn't want to date you, right?" Jungkook's manager spoke up before Jungkook could say anything or lose his job for punching the man that gave him a weekly paycheck. It would have been worth losing his job over though if he was going to use Jungkook against Taehyung. "He was a very desirable man that could date anyone," the manager spoke again, resting his chin in the palm of his hand with a bored expression as he stared at the CEO. "What makes you think he'd want your old ass?"
