Meet me behind trees in front of Barn. Don't want my fam asking 2 many qs...
It's the first text Sage receives from Gee following her home address.
Sage breathes out a long breath when she sees it. Their first kiss happened less than a week ago and already she's growing tired of all this secrecy. She should be more patient with Gee, she knows, but...
Sage is realizing just how much she hates being the source of Gee's shame.
Still, she's excited about their date today. She just can't help it. Sage finds she's even more nervous now than she is right before a Jackalopes game. Nerves are a new thing for her. She's not so sure she likes them, to be honest.
But for Gee?
For Gee she'll go through a lot.
Sage rides her motorbike Damien along farmland trails, kicking up dust behind her into the brisk autumn day. She arrives at Gee's Barn just as the sun peeks out from a particularly tumultuous bank of clouds. Light spills over the ever shifting sea of cornstalks spread out about the property.
The smell of fresh laundry and the sounds of hearty laughter seem to spill from every orifice of the red house. A knot rises in Sage's belly.
And not one she can just go easily untying, either.
So instead, Sage busies herself by unhooking her helmet, stowing Damien amongst a clump of bushes near the trees by the roadside, and waiting. She blows tentative gum bubbles to pass the time.
Genesis slips off to the trees, yellow tartan skirt flapping around her in the wind.
She soon finds Sage leaning against an angry looking motorbike. The machine seems to glower in Gee's direction, despite the warm autumn sun. The motorbike is nowhere near as impressive as Storm Zen, of course, but Sage still seems to cherish it. She grabs a battered black helmet and tosses a spare to Gee.
