Soren and Gabriel returned about a month later after receiving a threatening letter from Damian. He claimed he would 'make Gabriel childless' if they didn't come back home. The letter gave her an excuse to go home. Soren wanted to by a pregnancy test. She had been getting sick for the past week and figure that it was more than a bug. Damian provided her an excuse to come and get one.
Soren had practiced phasing over and over until it was almost as easy for her as it was for Gabriel. She shifted and followed Gabriel through the portal. They got back to the car by 2:30 pm and were home at 5:30 pm.
Soren used helping her mom by groceries as an excuse to go out without anyone getting suspicious. She took the test in the bathroom at the store. Positive. She decided that she would tell everyone after dinner.
"Mom, Dad, boys we gotta talk." She didn't beat around the bush she just blurted it out. "I'm pregnant."
Damian's face was the only one that looked shocked and angry. Gabriel hugged her. Her mom wept with joy and her father congratulated Gabriel. Damian lost it.
"WHAT IS EVERYONE SO HAPPY ABOUT? SHE IS SIXTEEN AND PREGNANT FOR GOD'S SAKES!!!"
Her mother calmly explained the prophecy the oracle foretold for Soren.
"This means your sister found her soul mate. Be happy for her."
"But she's 16!"
Her mother nodded, "So young to have found love."
"You are completely insane! I'm sorry but prophecy or no prophecy my little sister being pregnant at 16 doesn't make me jump for joy."
"So I take it you don't want to come to Souviron's Terrace with us?" Gabriel asked?
"No, I'm not." Damian turned and went down the hallway to his room.
"Alrighty, then," Soren muttered as she grabbed jackets from the front closet for everyone. They set out in Gabriel's car moments later.

Gabriel wrapped his arms around Soren and kissed her forehead as they headed to the car after dessert. They were almost to the car when two fire engines went screaming down the road headed towards their street.
"I wonder what's going on," Soren stated.
Gabriel shook his head but didn't ignore the ill feeling in his stomach.
"Let's go. I'm ready to crash," Gabriel said.
"Me, too."
With everyone in the car, Gabriel peeled out of the parking lot. Soren reached over and grabbed his hand as they followed the firetrucks right to their house.
"Damian..." Soren whispered.
Gabriel hadn't even stopped the car when she jumped out and ran towards the house calling his name.
"Damian!"
One of the firemen grabbed her and told her she couldn't go any farther. She jerked out of his grasp as a fireman came out carrying Damian. He wasn't breathing nor could they resuscitate him. Gabriel held Soren and told her not to worry and that they would get whoever did this.

After the funeral, Gabriel and Nathaniel met in the cemetery. They decided to meet at the bottom of the big crypt to finally settle this at 10:30 pm. Gabriel took Soren home and changed into comfortable clothes. Soren tried everything she could to keep him from leaving.
"If you don't stay for me at least stay for our child. Please don't leave me."
When 10:15 pm rolled around Gabriel kissed her on the mouth and on the stomach.
"I love you, both."
He left her.

Gabriel stripped off his shirt, socks, and shoes and went down into the crypt where Nathaniel waited.
"You take a really long time to say 'I love you' you know that?" his voice echoed through the darkness.
"Don't play games get out here and finish this."
"Ahh...straight to the point. Fine I shall kill you swiftly."
Nathaniel lunged at Gabriel from behind. He ducked and zoned in on him. Nathaniel threw the first punch that made contact with Gabriel's solar plexus. Gabriel brought an elbow up against Nathaniel's nose breaking it in the process. He managed to hold his own until Gabriel kicked his knee out. Nathaniel crashed to the floor. Gabriel flipped him so that he could pound his face into the concrete floor. When Nathaniel couldn't move anymore, Gabrielsnapped his neck. Complete paralysis. He took out a small canister of lighter fluid and a lighter and set him on fire destroying the vampire once and for all. Gabriel left and went home to his family.
