CHAPTER NINE
*DEVON'S POV*
"Settle down, settle down class." Mr. Maxwell said and folded his arms on his chest. "I have a fun partnering idea. How is it done? All of you are going to hand me your phone numbers. Write it in a little piece of paper, without your name. I will put it inside this jar, and will pick two students. And whoever will be your partner, will be your partner for the rest of the year." He said, waving a little glass jar.
All of us students nodded, then we started writing our numbers.
After seconds of writing our numbers, Mr. Maxwell roamed around the room to collect the phone numbers. He was stirring the papers in the jar with his hands to shuffle it. I had my fingers crossed so I can have a lucky partner.
Mr. Maxwell soon collected all the phone numbers and stood in front.
"Ok, so the first partners will be..." then he started dialling the numbers on his phone. Then a phone rang.
"Gotcha, Ms. Montgomrey."
Isabelle Montgomrey.
I like her soft golden blonde hair, bue eyes, and pink lips. Her skin is very pale. She is very beautiful. She wears a braided hippie band, cropped shirt which is aztec printed, white shorts, and ugg boots. The way she wears these clothes are pretty cute. Although, I think she's a hispter. Which makes her more cooler, I think.
Suddenly, after staring at her I heard my phone rang and it startled me.
"And that's you Mr. Vanderwall." Mr. Maxwell said. I nodded then shut the call button off. "Okay, so the first partners are Isabelle and Devon."
Fuck.
She's my partner.
For the rest of the year.
How am I supposed to act in front of her?
I am so nervous.
"Stand up please, the two of you, and proceed to the library. I want you to review first, and we will have the activity tomorrow." Mr. Maxwell explained, then opened the door.
As I looked to where she was sitting, she was gone.
"I'm here." She said, now standing in front of me. Damn. She's smiling at me, her dimples showing. I nodded then, we both headed to the library.
As we were crossing the field, I started talking to her to break the silence.
"So, are you new here?" I asked her.
"No. I think it's just the first time being in with the same class as you." She said. "Oh. I see. You are pretty popular here, aren't you?"
"Me? Yes, I think. It's because of football. But I didn't wanted the fact to be popular in a school."
"Why? That's like, every student wants."
"At first, you'll want to be it. But in the end, you'll regret."
"How?"
"Every chick here will wink at you and tell you to call them. It annoys me actually."
"Mmmm" she replied, nodding her head.
"So, you like The Strokes?" she asked. How could she know?
"Yeah, how'd you know?"
"I saw your twitter. There was a tweet that said the lyrics of their song. You should keep your tweets private though. And since you are very popular in this school, stalkers are everywhere- count me in it." She chuckled. I like the way she laughs, it's like the sounds of the angels.
"Oh, so you are stalking my twitter, huh?" I said and a smile started planting on my face.
"Not actually. It's just many girls that I follow retweets your tweets."
"Yeah, that's true."
"So you like indie-rock songs?" She asked biting her lip, expecting me to say yes. Because, you know, hipsters like Indie songs.
"Yeah, I do."
"Great. I finally found a guy who likes Indie at last." She said, raising both of her arms in the air. I like her. She is very confident around guys she doesn't know that much- like me.
"But I am not the only one." I chuckled.
"Yes you are." she paused and thought for a second, while she placed her finger on her lips. "Just in this school.. i think?"
I laughed at the way she acted. She was so cute. I can't stop looking at her.
We finally reached the library.
