Toni had been having a rough day but Cheryl couldn't figure out exactly what was wrong. For the entire school day the girl had been in a funk, barely spoke to anyone not even Cheryl herself. So she had taken it upon herself to do something to lift her spirits.
Not even her mothers blatant anger could put a damper on her plans. As soon as the car came to a stop Cheryl unbuckled her seat belt and jumped out the car.
"Cheryl!?" Penelope called after her but Cheryl was to far gone, in fact she was already opening the door to her home running past her father not even bothering to greet him like usual.
Clifford only sighed not even caring to call after her, instead he waited for Jason who greeted him as normal before he went up to his room. Meanwhile Cheryl stuffed her small body under her bed pulling out a stash of money she had been saving for a special occasion.
Technically it was supposed to be for Toni's upcoming birthday but she figured this was a good enough excuse to use the money. Plus, she'd get more eventually if she kept helping Pops after school sometimes.
She put the money in her pocket after taking her time to properly count each dollar correctly. All she had to do now was convince her parents to let her out of the house, which wasn't the easiest task in the world. But she was determined, after all her friend was not in a good mood for whatever reason and she intended to make sure that her day was better from the moment she arrived and after.
She took her time to properly change her clothes and redo her hair. It had been tied in a ponytail all day so she decided it would look better flowing down her back. Once done she threw on her favorite teddy bear themed sandals and left her room making sure her money was tucked securely in her pocket.
She made her way to Jason's room not even thinking to knock on the door before opening it.
The small shriek she heard followed by the annoyed sigh of her older brother made her think she had done something wrong. Jason looked up at his sister, her eyes off to the side as usual. "To what do I owe this pleasure?"
She walked up to his bedside, going straight to the nightstand where he kept a little device that helped her communicate with him better. When she pressed a specific button the machine would say the word aloud for him to hear, so in a way they were kind of talking to each other, just not in the traditional way.
