Kokichi and I both decided we wouldn't be telling anyone we were leaving. I asked simply out of curiosity, to which Kokichi insisted we keep it a secret, "for the fun of it."

I put my phone on "Do not disturb" so I could guarantee no interuptions while I was spending time with Kokichi.

"Oooo we could get icecream, have lunch, go to gift stores," Kokichi rambled as we snuck out of the area, hand in hand.

"Those do all seem like good ideas Kokichi-"

"What are you guys doing?"

Kokichi and I immediately released our grip on one another's hand in surprise and spun around to face the red eyed brunette.

"M-Maki, hey.." I stuttered.

"What are you guys doing?" She repeated herself, more demanding this time.

"We, uh.."

"I forgot my phone in the car and asked Shuichi to come with me because I look like a vulnerable innocent teenage girl and if anyone in this shady town were to see me alone they might try and do something that I'm not going to enjoy!" Kokichi lied.

I stared at him and couldn't help but smile to myself. He just makes me feel so happy even for the stupidest things.

"This town isn't even shady, you don't need to drag Shuichi with you everywhere just because you have abandonment issues. Come on Shuichi." Maki grabbed my wrist.

"W-wait Maki!" She turned back to me with an eyebrow cocked.

"You don't have to drag me around either.. Kokichi lied, I suggested that I would go with him." I could see Kokichi grinning in the corner of my eyes.

She let go. "Why? He's annoying."

"He wasn't bothering you in the car, was he?" I countered.

"I mean in general, I don't know why you want to spend time with him." Maki scoffed.

"It's because I'm actually interesting!" Surprisingly, he wasn't off. That was why I liked him, or at least one of the reasons.

I started to get a bad feeling about leaving right in front of Maki, if no one sees us for the rest of the day, she can just say she saw us leaving. But she also seems like a good secret keeper...

"Actually Kokichi, can you go for a second? Just wait at the car, I want to talk to Maki for a second.."

"Huh?" Kokichi tapped his cheek.
"You heard Shuichi, go."
"Geeeez Maki Roll, you're so mean!"
"Don't call me that."

"Just for a second Kokichi," I reassured him.

"Fiiine, bye losers." He stuck his tongue out and giggled, then left Maki and I alone.

Maki crossed her arms and looked at me. "So, what's going on?"

'How am I going to explain this to her...'

"Well, I'm not really a fan of the beach, so Kokichi and I agreed to just walk around town together." I explained, scratching my neck.
