The Love Among Us

Chapter 1: The Game

I sat on my bed, playing a game on my phone.

I grinned, I was making my character run around the map as I looked for dead bodies... My tasks were done and I was bored.

I got serious after the pop up screen showed up:
Dead Body Reported

I opened the chat icon in the upper corner. The same thing being repeted endlessly: "where"

I typed in the chat, "Where?" Trying to be polite.
The white character, named My Mom, said, "In Comms"

I quickly typed, "See anything sus?"

White replied, "no"

Hmm. "Well I was at reactor" I typed as other players shared their location.

Pink voted? I wonder who...

"Skip?" I typed.

Notifications that people were voting flooded the chat, I closed the chat and skipped.

"Adeline!" I heard my mom call.

I sighed, "Yeah!" I called back as I went to security.

"Will you come do the dishes?"

I groaned as I opened the cameras. "Give me a minute! I'm almost done!"

I saw orange chop purple in half on the camera.

Rushing to the cafeteria I hit the Emergency Meeting button.

The chat filled with "what" And "why"

I typed, "I saw orange kill purple on cams"

Orange started arguing with me and everyone else. Then votes rolled in. I clicked on Orange.

Almost everyone voted for orange, aka Cloudstir.

My screen faded to space, when oranges icon was chucked out of the ship.

Orange was the imposter.

The screen faded to me and the other players in a line, Victory it read.

I watched an ad before getting sent back to the waiting room with most of the same players. I opened the chat, "Gg guys. I gtg. Bye!"

Not waiting for replies I left the game and turned off my phone.

I went downstairs and saw my mom unloading the dishwasher. "I said I'd do them." I smiled and put on gloves.

"I just thought I'd help you out a little." She finished putting the last dish away, "let me guess, playing video games again?" She laughed.

"How did you know?" I replied sarcastically.
I got doing the dishes.

I got out of my car and walked into my school. I looked around and didn't see any of my friends, so I just started up the stairs.

It was the last day of school before summer break.

And there was a lot of people missing.

I went to my study skills class, and sat down.

Pulling out my phone I texted my best friend.
"Dawn. Where are you?"

I closed my messages and went to Instagram and scrolled until she replied.

"I'm coming upstairs now."

My teacher wasn't even here yet. I checked the time. I was 10 minutes early.

I got up from my seat (leaving my backpack) and met Dawn in the hallway.

"Come on." I grabbed her arm and dragged her to class. I sat down in my chair and opened Among Us.

"Give me a code when you're ready." Dawn said sitting next to me.

I nodded as the game loaded.

After I got to the home page. I clicked 'Online' then clicked on 'Public'. I scrolled though the games available. I clicked on "zukoisbae" And joined.

"Okay, U-V-R-Y-W-Q"

"I got in."

"Nice."

The game started, "Dang it." I exclaimed smiling.

"What," Dawn smiled back at me.

"I'm the imposter..." I leaned my head back for a moment before focusing on the game.

I sucked at being the imposter.

Another few people trickled into the classroom as Dawn and I played.

Our teacher came in and sat at his desk. He never cared what we were doing.

I killed pink as light green walked in. "Oh no," I whispered.

Dawn chuckled.

A girl I have a few classes with, Annie, walked over in a rush and sat next to me. "Adeline," She whisper yelled.

"Hmm" I said, opening the chat as light green started typing in the chat in all caps, "I SAW DARK BLUE KILL"

I typed, "idk what you're talking about" As Annie spoke.

"Did you hear?"

I shook my head and typed in the chat, "Where?"

"The Among us game makers announced that over the summer they were going to be hosting a live action gameplay of Among us."

"Huh?" I said at the same time as Dawn. I smiled and returned my gaze to the chat where light green was still typing in all caps.

"Maybe you saw purple because I was't in Navigation." I typed.

"I can't believe you haven't heard, but I guess because you're always playing you never would" I scoffed as she continued, "but yeah, they are, their hosting a bunch of them all over."

"Where?"

She shrugged, "Are you gonna do it?"

"I don't know. Maybe. If it sounds fun and my mom will let me."

She looked at Dawn, "how about you?"

Dawn shrugged, "I'll go if Adeline goes."

Annie went back to her seat and also pulled up Among us.

In fact, a good portion of the class was playing.
I thought about the live action gameplay Annie was talking about as I was voted out.

Sounds fun...
