03: the ball
A month had passed ever since I had met Patricio from the House Fernandez. He was good to me. It was like everything about him screamed comfort and he's made sure that I felt comfortable when we're together. And every time it happens, his lips would brush against my hair, I'd feel butterflies erupt inside. But I never looked past that aside from us being friends. "Lady Lisa, the young master Patricio wishes to see you this evening."
"Does Ma and Pa know about this?" I asked. When they had treated me with love, I made sure that they know my whereabouts— they made me promise. "Yes, my lady. They are aware and told me to remind you to be on your best behavior." I smiled and thanked the maid— Lita, I think, yeah. I think her name is Lita. She left my room as soon as the twins dashed into my room in an unladylike manner.
"Let's go pay hide and seek under the moon!" I chuckled at Lia's antics. She's too extra today, flailing her arms excitedly as she jumped up and own my bed. I already found out that every member of a noble family has a special ability and that our family will have to send one of us to the facility when we come of age to determine who will take the throne. That is also why 'my' older siblings are training.
"No, we can't. At least, I cannot join you two." I said with a deep sigh as I had rummaged through a stack of clothes I had fished out of the closet. Their eyes looked at me with wonder making me chuckle. "The young master Patricio requested for my presence tonight." The two let out a knowing sigh and helped me prepare. My family didn't know that I had discovered my ability. The twins' aren't really fit to be used for combat, so they won't be sent to train. To put it simply, no one knows that I had found my ability and it's purpose aside from the twins. They said my ability is rare. That I can create and destroy lives.
It really doesn't make sense. But the fact that I am learning to control it, hide the presence of my 'ability', I leanred about it"s importance more and the dangers of having it exposed. Just like how Elsa's parents had hid her ability away for the fear of hurting another person. But I'm different. And that's what makes me dangerous.
They had helped me fix my hair and picked me an outfit. I don't have a hint about where he'll be taking me so I wore a a dress with a sweetheart bodice with purple flowers that hung just on my knee. I also paired it with stilettos that are comfortable to my feet. They had braided my hair and placed a purple flower above my ear to cover the ribbon that they used to braid my hair. When they were done, I smiled at my own reflection.
"Wait, you need something else, Ari!" Synthia exclaimed before she fished out a box from the hidden pocket of her gown. "Here." She said, handing me a beautiful necklace with a detachable pendant. It was a bright orange flower but when I attached it to my neck, it changed into purple. "Something that always blends in, yeah?" Synthia smiled.
A few weeks ago, they ignored me completely. Like I never existed. At first, I was extremely bothered, then thought that it might be because they thought that I would never fit in. Especially when the truth got out (to the Montreal family) that I'm not really their daughter/child Monalisa Arielle. But, the twins actually prepared something for me— their words, not mine. And now that they've revealed it, I felt happy. Really happy.
"This stores your energy, Arielle. We sensed that your energy rises too quickly, making people notice your ability. We don't want anyone using you." Lia added with a serious expression written in her face before it changed into another smile— like she didn't just give me a warning. But I had looked into my abilities already and what they said is true. I cannot afford letting them know that I am dangerous as they might call since it won't just endanger me, but the house itself.
