Right away Nathan knows that this transfer is not going to end well.

And that was before Riley and Maya bursted into the classroom and slammed their transfer slips on the teachers desk.

"Greetings, new classmates. Riley Matthews. Ready to be your friend. That's my big brother Nathan. He's the best."

Well, isn't that sweet. But it's going to take more than that to make up for Nathan's forced transfer.

"Sup, I'm Maya. You don't look me in the eyes."

"You three are late," the teacher says rudely. "You three don't talk. You thre-"

"Okay, I'm going to cut you off right there lady. First of all, don't ever talk like that to me and my sister again. We have friends in high places. Second of all, we're not late because we transferred. Surely you know how that works. And lastly, I'll take my detention and transfer slip to go."

Riley grips her brothers arm, "But-"

"No buts," Nathan replies removing his arm. "I don't like her, so I'm not staying. Now I'll be waiting in the hallway for you to reach the same conclusion I did."

Nathan takes his detention and transfer slips from the teacher, high fives some kid, and barely refrains from slamming the door on his way out.

Not long after Nathan leaves, Riley and Maya walk out of the classroom looking dejected.

"We're going to back to dad's classroom," Nathan demands. Not leaving room for argument.

-

"Here's what's funny. If you're standing on the moon, you'd think the Earth was revolving around you, instead of the other way around. It's really all about perspective. It's hard not to believe that you're the center of everything until something shows you you're not."

-

Nathan shakes his head as Riley and Maya try and sneak back into the classroom.

"Just for a moment now we're all together. Just for a moment we're happy. Let's really look at one another. Hello, girls. Nathan. You're back?"

"As bad as this is..."

"Everything else is worse," Maya says completing Riley's sentence.

"I got detention."

"You we're gone for ten minutes."

"And in those ten minutes I earned detention."

His dad sighs, "Well... you're just in time for today's lesson."

"Did we miss anything important?"

"Nah. We're just putting everything back into place. The reason lesson begins right now."

-

"Face it," Riley says with a sigh. "We are never going to escape him."

"He's everywhere," Maya agrees. "How are we going to be Kong's of anything if everywhere we go..."

"We might run into my-Mom? What are you doing here?"

"Is my-kranian bakery," she says with a smile.

"Still not funny," Auggie tells her.

"Augster," Nathan exclaims. "Riley's been forcing me to hang out with her at school."
