"Welcome to my humble abode," Zay says gesturing his arms."It's nice," Nathan says looking around. "Are we the only ones here?"
Zay nods, "My mom doesn't get off work for another couple of hours."
"Are those your parents," Nathan says pointing at a picture on the counter.
"Yep," he says, popping the p. "That's them before the divorce a year ago."
"Your mom looks kind of familiar," Nathan says studying the picture.
"Maybe you've seen her around on the subway or something. She's been here about a few months."
"Maybe. Now," Nathan says clapping his hands. "I do believe I was promised video games so what've you got?"
-
"Oh, shit," Nathan says when he checks his phone.
"What's wrong with you?"
"Missed a couple calls from my mom. It's getting late I need to head home."
"You can stay the night if you want," Zay offers. "My mom won't mind."
Nathan groans, "As much as I appreciate the offer, I'm not allowed to have spur of the moment sleepovers."
"That's a weird rule."
"Not really," Nathan says laughing. "I take a certain medication before bed and I can't miss a dose. Trust me, I had a sleepover last year without my meds and it didn't end well.
"Well, I'll see you tomorrow then. Thanks for the company."
"No need to thank me. I had fun and uh, I'll talk to Lucas."
"Thanks man, but I should probably be the one to talk to him."
-
"Al washes a car in six minutes. Fred washes the same car in eight minutes. How long does it take Al and Fred to wash the same car together?"
"How is this anything," Riley questions but she's ignored.
"Any ideas Nathan?"
"Are you being serious," Nathan says scowling. "Dad, I have a C' in math right now and the only reason I have that grade is because of extra credit."
"Three minutes twenty-five point seven seconds."
"That sounds right to me," Nathan says agreeing with Farkle.
"Wrong."
"I'm sorry what did you just say," Farkle says shocked.
"You're wrong."
I'm wrong," Farkle says annoyed. "You're a history teacher teaching English, science, whatever you got going on at home. You waltz your wife in here on career day."
"She's a respected attorney," Cory argues.
"My father said she should've been my mother!"
"That's gross," Nathan mutters.
"Mr. Matthew teaches us about a lot of things. He's open-minded that way."
"He can be open-minded because he knows who we are," Riley snarks back at Lucas.
"Oh. She took us both out."
Nathan rolls his eyes at their antics and then closes his eyes to relax.
Just a little cat nap.
"He thinks it's math class," Zay exclaims startling Nathan awake. "Somebody stop him."
